CATALAN FOOD: Pa Amb Tomaquet: Bread rubbed with fresh tomatoes and drizzled with oil and salt. A true Catalan staple. Alioli: A sauce made from garlic and olive oil. The ingredients are whipped up for a long time to make a white paste. Crema Catalana: Similar to the French Crème BrulÊe. It is made with sugar, egg yolks and cinnamon and burnt on the top. Panellets: Small round sweets made with almonds, sugar, eggs and pine nuts. They can be rolled in any number of coatings, but the traditional ones are rolled in pine nuts.
INDEPENDENCE: Language: catalan is the official language of Catalonia. Politic situation: The majority of the poblation mainly thinks that catalonia in the future will be independent.
BARCELONA: Barcelona is the biggest and most important city of Catalonia. Location Barcelona is located on eastern Spanish Mediterranean coast. It’s next to the Pyreneans which separate Spain and France. A city of modern art Many important painters worked here once and you can still see their influence in the city. Two of them are Picasso and Miró whose most important works are displayed in museums. All in all Barcelona shows an ample variety of worth seeing art. Architecture Barcelona houses masterpieces of many impressive architects. The most famous of them is Antonio Gaudí. His works are admired by all the world as an inimitable style of modern architecture. Famous examples for his work are the Sagrada Familia and the Park Guell.
NATURE: The natural wealth of Catalonia is enormous. Many national parks offer different possibilities and not for nothing Catalonia is so famous for its flora and fauna. Nature Parks Catalonia is known for its diverse landscapefrom the coast until the mountains you can visit places like the volcanic area of Garrotxa or the Montserrat abbey.
