The 2019 Auction Committee PRESENT

AN EVENING BENEFITING THE EPISCOPAL SCHOOL OF DALLAS

Oh, What a Night!

ON BEHALF OF THE STUDENTS, TEACHERS, AND PROGRAMMING IMPACTED BY YOUR PRESENCE TONIGHT, IT IS MY HONOR TO WELCOME YOU TO THE 2019 ESD PARENTS’ ASSOCIATION AUCTION AND SHOW. THE FUNDS RAISED TONIGHT WILL STRENGTHEN OUR COMMUNITY IN REAL AND MEASURABLE WAYS.

This is my first ESD auction — and Hafida and I are excited to experience it with you. Parents’ Association President Lori Watson and Auction Chairs Mandy Click and Maria Link and their teams of volunteers worked tirelessly to plan a memorable evening and secured unbelievable auction items. Many thanks, too, to those of you who participate through your attendance and bidding. Your efforts help build community and provide the resources necessary for ESD to deliver on its Mission and Founding Tenets. I understand the live show, stewarded by Wendy King and Holly Hands, is sure to delight. Thank you to the many who have dedicated countless hours writing, rewriting, rehearsing, and refining the performances that will make us laugh and be awestruck by the talent in our community. Oh, what a night! Thank you for being here and everything you do to support The Episcopal School of Dallas. With appreciation,

DAVE BAAD THE HOBSON FAMILY HEAD OF SCHOOL

THANK YOU FOR JOINING US FOR THE ESD PARENTS’ ASSOCIATION AUCTION AND SHOW. WE ARE HAPPY THAT YOU ARE HERE, AND WE HOPE YOU ENJOY THE EVENING. Tonight, we celebrate ESD and our amazing community! We are extremely grateful for the outpouring of support, effort, contribution, and friendship you all have given. We are especially appreciative of our donors and underwriters. All of the funds we raise tonight, and throughout the year, will directly benefit our students and faculty through opportunity and enrichment programs. We want to thank our “show-stopping” auction committee, tonight’s performers, and many volunteers for your enthusiasm, energy, and experience. We loved having this opportunity to work with you. A big applause goes to Parents’ Association President, Lori Watson and Parents’ Association Liaison, Mary Beth Weinberger for their tremendous leadership. And now, sit back, bid often, and enjoy the Show! MANDY CLICK CO-CHAIR

Big Board

To bid on Big Board items, enter your bid number on the touchscreen, and then enter the minimum bid displayed or the maximum you are willing to pay for the item, and the computer will bid for you, up to your maximum bid. The winning bidder will be presented with a bid sheet to sign. The bidder’s signature confirms the purchase price of the item auctioned. Your bid, oral or written, is a binding contract. All sales are final.

ALL ART SUPPLIES WERE DONATED BY

“HAVING FUN” Beginners – Class of 2034 Mix a little Jackson Pollock, selfexpressionism, and fun, and the result is a fabulous, collaborative work of art. Each Beginner put their splatter on canvas to create a piece that commemorates their first year at ESD.

Art Projects

DIMENSIONS: 24" x 18", Unframed

“ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES” Pre-K – Class of 2033 Pre-K students rolled strips of colored paper into varying-sized circles to represent their individualism as well as their connection as a class. There is no end to the possibilities for these students!

DIMENSIONS: 20" x 24", Framed

57

“LOVE” Kindergarten – Class of 2032 Can you feel the love from this expressive piece created by the Kindergarten class? Using artist Chris Riggs as their inspiration, each student wrote the word “love” several times and then painted each with vibrant colors.

DIMENSIONS: 48" x 30", Unframed

“THE HAPPIEST LEMONADE STAND ON EARTH” Primer – Class of 2032 Primer students used the art of Takashi Murakami as their inspiration in creating their own smiling flower. Their designs were then used to create “the happiest lemonade stand on earth.”

DIMENSIONS: 39" x 18" x 54" WEIGHT: 41.1 pounds

58

“BUTTERFLIES” First Grade – Class of 2031 First grade is full of new wonders and discoveries. After learning about butterflies in class, each student designed their own little part of this beautiful, collaborative piece.

Art Projects

DIMENSIONS: 28" x 40", Framed

“BUILDING A COMMUNITY” Second Grade – Class of 2030 Inspired by their study of Romare Bearden, each second grader designed a house that came together as a city. The vivid colors reflect the energy that was put into this dynamic creation.

DIMENSIONS: 15" x 29", Framed

59

“THE BRIDGE” Third Grade – Class of 2029 As the first graduating class at the new Lower School, this painting represents the third-grade students crossing to their new location. Impressionism and their studies of architecture influenced this purposeful piece.

DIMENSIONS: 30" x 24", Unframed

“MOVING UP” Fourth Grade – Class of 2028 Photography was the chosen medium to create the fourth-grade art project. This special group is “moving up” to the Middle School. New experiences, teachers, and friends await, but this photo captures them simply enjoying their last year in Lower School.
