Cornwall Works with Families What’s it all about? Cornwall Works with Families is part of DWP’s European Social Fund Convergence programme - set up with a single simple objective – to get members of workless families working together to get closer to the labour market and back into work. It’s not really new thinking at all but not all families are the happy families we wish they were. So they can actually get in the way of members doing well.
So, what is new? Well, funding for a start – we can offer up to 12 months support and then 6 months in work support for each person who joins us. Our coordinators will sort out a tailor made programme for them – working on overcoming barriers, employability and life skills.
How exactly? By working on how families can help support members back into work but understanding how they can get in the way too. Tricky things, families. So we’ll take a look at the individuals and the family they’re part of - looking to overcome family stuff that might actually be getting in the way at the same time as tackling work related barriers for the individual. We’ll work on life skills and social and economic isolation and on health and housing related barriers too.
