Usually following a long stay abroad, the student can understand virtually everything and masters the foreign language perfectly. Sometimes, his/ her knowledge of the language is superior to that of a native speaker, with perhaps fewer idiomatic expressions.
An official language certificate is a passport to your future. It can help you stand out in the working world and get an interesting job in an international environment or enter a foreign university. At ESL, we select schools that are experts in preparing students for official language exams. They can offer you specialised exam prep courses so you’ll arrive to test day ready to take your exam confidently.

UNIQUE BENEFITS
10
FLEXIBLE COURSE START DATES General language courses typically start every Monday. Some schools offer beginner courses on more limited fixed start dates. Official exam preparation courses are offered 2 to 3 times per year on fixed dates.
FAST AND EASY BOOKING You have two options: 1. Complete the online enrolment form on our website. 2. Call us to set up a time to meet to help you fill out your form or to complete your enrolment over the phone. We’ll confirm your enrolment within seven days of receiving your enrolment form. This confirmation includes all the details of your course, accommodation and transfer (if booked). A deposit must then be paid within 10 days. We will send you the final invoice 5-6 weeks before your departure. You must pay the outstanding amount, in your preferred currency before your departure.
AFFORDABLE FLIGHTS
FREE VISA ASSISTANCE Depending on the destination and duration of your stay, you may need a student visa. We’ll be able to advise you on the application procedure and obtain the necessary documents for your visa request. You will be responsible for paying any visa fees. The formalities as far as visas are concerned are generally the same for people coming from EU countries. If you have an EU passport, you will not need a visa to study within the EU. The majority of the other countries, except for Russia, Egypt or China, allow you to study for up to 12 weeks as a tourist. For stays of more than 3 months, a student visa is sometimes required.
TRAVEL SAFE AND REASSURED
ANALYSIS The majority of language schools divide students into groups based on current ability with the target language. This is vital in order to feel at ease and make consistent progress. It’s also what will make the course effective and interesting. Consequently, all of the schools offer an evaluation test on the first day or before arrival. ESL also offers this service during your consultancy interview, if you so wish. This is very useful if you want to take a certificate preparation or business course, where it’s necessary to have a specific minimum level.
PERSONALISED QUOTES IN YOUR CURRENCY In order to give you a precise idea of the cost of your language study stay and the opportunity to compare different destinations, we’ll send you free, personalised and detailed price quotes in your currency. You can think things over at home, at your leisure, while having all the necessary information at hand to make your decision.
PROMOTIONS, FREE FLIGHTS AND SPECIAL OFFERS Throughout the year, ESL offers special discounts on your language stay. Take advantage of our exclusive promotions by booking your programme in advance or with a friend or family member (the destination/school doesn’t have to be the same). Furthermore, some of our programmes include free flights! Check our website regularly or contact us to stay informed about our partner schools’ special offers, and travel at the best prices available on the market.
TRAVELLING NEXT YEAR? Course dates and fees as featured online are valid for the current year. If you’re planning your language course for next year, you can use this information as an indication. Prices and dates for next year are usually available starting in July. Don’t hesitate to call us for up-to-date information on dates and prices before their publication (end of September). We receive many enrolments several months in advance so that we can guarantee popular courses or accommodation or satisfy your specific wishes. By enrolling before November, for the following year, you will usually pay the same price as for the current year.
ESL · A world of languages
ESL can refer you to a high-quality travel agent who can find flights to any destination at very competitive prices. Don’t hesitate to ask us for more information. If you mention it on the enrolment form, we’ll put you in touch with our trusted flights partner.
FREE LANGUAGE LEVEL EVALUATION AND NEEDS
We ask you to make sure you have travel insurance in place before your trip with us. At the time of your reservation, we offer you the option to buy travel insurance with our partner provider: they provide coverage for travellers going overseas for longer durations, whether studying, working or volunteering. Make sure you have coverage for emergency medical expenses, which include repatriation and personal liability. You may also want to consider coverage for cancellation & curtailment, personal effects, legal expenses, bereavement, etc.

Accommodation is a key aspect of any language course abroad. That’s why, when choosing our partner schools, we select institutions that can guarantee the same excellent standards for accommodation as they can for teaching. We take great pleasure in helping you find the type of accommodation that is most suitable for you.
SHARED APARTMENT
By immersing yourself in the daily life of a local family, you’ll practice the language constantly and gain authentic insight into local culture and customs. Host families usually live fairly near the school (sometimes within walking distance but usually a short ride on public transport away) though in big cities they will be further away.
In a shared student apartment, you’ll be able to live with other students and/or locals. You’ll have a single room to yourself so you can enjoy some independence, while common areas like the kitchen and living room will be shared with your flatmates. This option is offered in Germany, England, Australia, Canada, Spain, Ireland, Malta, Italy, Austria, Egypt and Latin America.
Our partner schools are highly selective when choosing host families and monitor them via student feedback. Unless you request otherwise, you will generally not be accommodated with students who speak your mother tongue. Any other specific requirements or preferences you may have will be taken into account whenever possible, including things like special diet, preference for smoking/non-smoking households, pets, children, etc. You must let us know if you have any allergies or medical conditions so we can inform the family in advance. It’s also useful if you let us know your interests and hobbies so we can take these into account when placing you with the most suitable host family.
COURSES WITHOUT ACCOMODATION
ESL · A world of languages
HOST FAMILY
Because your package will be tailor-made according to your individual needs and objectives, you can also book a course without accommodation. If you want to find longer-term accommodation with other students or locals, we would recommend booking some form of official accommodation for the first few weeks while you find your feet.
STUDENT RESIDENCE Stay in a single or, more commonly, shared twin room with other students. This is a great way to enjoy your independence while meeting people from all over the world. You’ll usually share bathroom and kitchen facilities with other students; the exact level of comfort and facilities depends on the standards of the destination.

NEW JERSEY, USA
LENGTH OF STAY:
6 MONTHS
For 6 months, I lived on a real American campus. The reason I chose to go to New Jersey is because it’s one of the few programmes with a language school located on campus; this allowed me to interact not only with international students, but also with Americans.
H
My classmates were all international students. The rest of the campus was shared with local students: the canteen, gym, recreational centre, different clubs and much more. The friendships I made in the US are strong and genuine, and I hope they will last forever. Actually, I am sure they will; in these kinds of experiences, 6 months feel like 6 years. ESL · A world of languages
As much as my friends played an essential part in my experience, I also studied and achieved high results: thanks to my teachers and my preparation, I got great results on both the TOEFL and IELTS certification exams.

My desire to go to Korea arose when my best friend and I entered the world of K-pop (Korean music) and its TV shows. I would never have thought that what was just a hobby at the start would become a path towards what I hope to be my future. We arrived in South Korea in early February. The classes were easy to follow and fun, and time flew. Living in a foreign country, with a culture and language different from your own is exciting because you have to go beyond your limits, and you learn more about yourself. It’s an experience I strongly recommend, a unique experience that only you can decide to undertake – you just need to take the first step!

I stayed in Australia in Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast for two and a half months. It was just great! The school where I studied is 5-10 minutes by tram from the centre of Surfers Paradise and the beach. The atmosphere was really great, the teachers were all nice and they tried to push our English skills further day after day. I actually arrived there with a B1/ B2 level and I left with a C1 level and 7.5 at the IELTS exam. As for Surfers Paradise, I think it’s the perfect city in Australia for a stay up to 4-5 months, where you can find absolutely everything you need to be entertained. Gold Coast is also ideal for surfing. I surfed a lot during my stay and that remains one of my most beautiful memories. ESL · A world of languages

I recommend anyone going to Australia to plan spending time and money on travelling because it’s a beautiful country and I think it’s a pity to go to the other end of the world without planning 3-4 weeks to travel after following a course at the language school.

As a part of my English in Action programme, I took a TOEFL exam preparation course and did an in-company internship. Each stage of the programme allowed me to progress in a different way. During my 3 months at school, we focused on theoretical exercises, writing texts and studying grammar. We also did lots of conversation exercises, where I was able to interact with my classmates.
What’s more, during my stay I had the opportunity to visit the University of San Diego, and I was very interested in the programmes they offered. After passing my TOEFL exam and submitting my application, I got accepted… in January I start my LL.M in Comparative Law with a concentration in Business and Corporate Law! I recommend that everyone take advantage of this experience, as it’s the most enriching one you could have, both on the personal and professional levels!

After giving it a lot of thought, I decided to travel to Vancouver (Canada) and Salamanca (Spain), and they didn’t disappoint!

The ESL team was always available. They answered my questions in great detail and helped me with a few little problems that came up during my stay. I especially recommend Vancouver… everyone who’s studied there has one thing in common: they all want to go back!

There’s a reason why Japan is such a desirable destination for a gap experience: it’s the centre of technology, fashion, history, cuisine and culture, and there are no friendlier or more helpful people than the Japanese. Students flock to Japan for an exotic adventure and leave feeling like they’ve gained a second home. You’ll meet other students from all over the world as you browse rows upon rows of manga in comic shops, slurp noodles together in ramen bars and sing karaoke during Tokyo’s electric evenings. South Korea, on the other hand, is so much more than just “Gangnam Style”, but students do love their K-pop! Practise your Korean as you soak in one of the country’s famous spas, feast on Korean barbecue, kimchi and bibimbap with the locals and hit the beaches of Busan. Navigate the neon city of Seoul, and explore gorgeous natural landscapes like Jeju Island or Bukhansan National Park. You’ll be amazed at how quick and easy it is to learn Korean while fully immersed in the language and culture!
EU and Swiss citizens don’t need a visa for stays of less than 3 months. If you’re staying for longer than 3 months, you’ll need to apply for a Student Visa or leave the country to get back in for 3 additional months.
