Grammar Stories 1st Conditional

Pre-reading questions Do you have a pet? If not, do you know someone who does? What kind of animal is it? Is it friendly? What will it do if you rub its head? What will it do if you give it treats?

Tom’s dog My dog is very smart. His name is Jackson. He knows a lot of tricks. If you raise your hand, he will lie down. If you give him a high five, he will raise his paw. If you say “dance”, he will twirl around. My dog won’t do tricks if he is tired. He will just crawl under the table and go to sleep instead. My dog loves chasing squirrels. If he sees a squirrel, he will run after it. If the squirrel climbs a tree, he will bark at it. His favorite game is ‘fetch’. If I throw a ball, he will bring it back to me. Sometimes my dog is annoying. If someone rings the doorbell, he will bark. If I am eating dinner, he will whine until I give him some food. He is also very sneaky. If I leave my lunch in my backpack, he will open the backpack and eat my sandwich. My dog is also a great friend. If I am sick, he will sleep on my bed and make me feel better. I love my dog a lot.
