He created the shop as he wanted to create a comfort-
able surrounding for men to buy lingerie, as he was ma
a time embarrassed to do so. He opened the first store i
San Francisco at Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto
and quickly followed it with a mail-order catalog an three other stores. The shops were covered with dark wooden pane;led walls, and
furnished with victorian furniture. The staff were beautiful and confident in asking the men about their choice of lingerie.
