Why ESMOD? We are the worldwide fashion education leader. École supérieure des arts et techniques de la mode or ESMOD is the world’s oldest and renowned fashion school, established in 1841 in Paris by Alexis Lavigne, the tailor of Empress Eugenie. He was a master tailor, and the inventor of couture mannequin and the metric supple measuring tape, these two tools granted artisans to use actual data in order to make precisely calculated garments. ESMOD Jakarta has a long history of nurturing and shaping students talent. Established on September 6, 1996 by Mrs. Hartini Hartarto, Chairperson of Yayasan Pendidikan Desain dan Ilmu Pengetahuan, ESMOD Jakarta has upheld the rigorous professional international standard, as well as encouraging young designers to adapt to rich Indonesian cultural heritage.
