eSolutions eBook Module 1 Introduction The eBook Module allows users to easily convert an existing PDF document into an attractive and elegant eBook embedded directly on their web page. It eliminates the need to open the document in another browser window and the easy navigation and clear display of file content helps visitors to locate what they need quickly and effectively.

2 Navigating an eBook eBook has two navigation modes for embedded documents. The preview mode appears as a window directly on the web page and provides basic navigation consisting of a scroll bar which allows the user to scan through the document and a paging arrow which will flip forward from page to page. see Figure 2-1

Figure 2-1: eBook Preview Mode This mode also includes an Expand button which allows the user to open the Document Navigation Window, providing more advanced controls. see Figure 2-2

Figure 2-3: The Navigation Bar The Navigation Bar tools include:

Book Mode is primarily intended for use on mobile devices where navigation by using a touch screen is required. The page flip navigation and popup thumb nails will feel familiar to the users of most tables and touch screen cell phones.

The Zoom Slider

Allows the viewer to zoom in and out. Minimum zoom (farthest left) will show one page in its entirety.

Paging Buttons

These arrows will take you forward to the top of the next page, or backward to the top of the previous page. For more control within a page use the scroll bar on the right of the viewer.

Page Mode

The Page Mode icon allows a traditional electronic document navigation scheme, showing one page at a time, with navigation via paging buttons and the scroll bar. Page Mode is the default navigation mode.

Book Mode

Book Mode presents the viewer with a two page layout similar to a traditional paper book. In Book Mode pages flip interactively and a series of thumbnails are provided across the bottom on the screen to further enhance navigation. Note that the zoom tool responds differently in Book Mode.

Close Button

This button will close the Document Navigation Window and return the user to the web page.

4.2 Editing a Placed eBook There are no limits to how large or how small you can make the window. However, keep in mind that very small windows will be of limited use as a preview. Conversely large windows can cause issues with page scrolling, as well as forcing other page elements out of position.

eBook allows you to scale the size of its window on your web page. The most convenient window size for your visitor will usually be one that fits on a single screen without scrolling. By sizing the window to show one document page in its entirety you will help your visitors to more easily preview the eBook’s contents. To scale the placed eBook: 1. In i:Create editor mode click on the placed eBook you wish to delete. If the Document Navigation Window opens close it using the Close button on the Navigation Bar. 2. If you see a hashed border surrounding your eBook window see Figure 4-1 click away from the eBook window to deselect it, then click back on it again. Avoid clicking on the Expand button.
