Les vibrations issues de la route sont à l’origine de nombreux micro traumatismes articulaires. Les vibrations détériorent le confort de roulage, la tenue de route, la maîtrise et le contrôle que l’on doit avoir de son vélo. Elles nuisent à la sécurité et à la performance.

Road vibrations are at the root of many micro-traumas to the joints, affecting ride comfort, road holding, command and control of the bike, thus compromising both safety and performance. Following several years of research and the application of three patents, TIME revolutionizes the cycling world launching on the market the Aktiv fork. Our numerous studies have shown that most of the vibrations were amplified by the fork of the bike; consequently, we placed an AKTIV mass damper system in each sleeve of the fork. This lessens the vibratory phenomenon at it’s source and as close to the road as possible. By vibrating themselves at a given frequency, they dissipate vibrations felt in the seat, stem and handlebars.

Aujourd’hui, après des années de développement et le dépôt de trois brevets, TIME révolutionne le monde du vélo en lançant la fourche AKTIV. Une innovation technologique qui permet de conjuguer les avantages du système aheadset de liaison pivot/potence et celui du système classique, pour un réglage facilité (Brevet TIME). Le réglage du jeu de la direction est dissocié de la fixation de la potence, le cycliste peut ainsi effectuer la mise au point de sa position sans contrainte de réglage de son jeu de direction.

Afin d’assurer une meilleure filtration des vibrations, TIME utilise la fibre Vectran® dans l‘ensemble de ses produits (cadres et fourches). Cette fibre utilisée dans l’industrie aérospatiale et dans le domaine militaire agit comme un véritable filtre pour gommer les inégalités de la route et renforce les capacités d’adhérence pour transmettre l’intégralité de la puissance développée du cycliste à la route. Ainsi, les vibrations sont absorbées par le cadre et non pas par le corps humain. In order to assure the best vibration filtration, TIME uses Vectran® fibers in all of its carbon products (frames and forks). This fiber is used in the aerospace industry as well as in the military. It acts as a filter to practically erase uneven road surfaces and to reinforce adherence capabilities by transmitting the entirety of the force coming from the road. In this way, the vibrations are absorbed by the frame and not by the rider.

This is a technological innovation that has combined the advantages of the Aheadset system (steerer/stem liaison) and those of the classic system (easy adjustment). The adjustment of the headset is not associated with the mounting of the stem. The cyclist is able to change his bike fit without having to adjust the headset.

DIRECTION COMPOSITE CARBON QUICKSET CARBON COMPOSITE QUICKSET HEADSET Cette évolution intègre dans la structure les cuvettes de direction lors de l’opération de moulage. Les bénéfices sont multiples avec notamment une amélioration de la précision dimensionnelle, des alignements et une diminution du poids du cadre. This evolution is integrated into the structure of the headset cups during the molding process. There are numerous benefits, which include improved dimensional precision, alignment and lighter weight.

La performance exige d’affiner les réglages et d’ajuster un cadre au plus près de la morphologie du cycliste pour mieux exploiter sa puissance dans une approche qui s’apparente à du sur-mesure. L’intégration de la tige de selle au cadre permet une réduction des masses et participe à une meilleure transmission des efforts. Performance demands precision adjustments to achieve a bike fit that is as close to rider morphology as possible, in a way that is approaching a custom made frame. The integration of the seatpost to the frame allows for a reduction in weight as well as improved esthetics, all while having a better transmission of power.

Les simulations informatiques ainsi que les mesures embarquées ont mis en évidence le comportement asymétrique d’un cadre sous les efforts d’un coureur. Nous avons donc développé des profils de structure optimisés pour obtenir un gain de rigidité et une augmentation des performances. La base droite rectiligne supporte les efforts de compression générés par la traction de la chaîne, tandis que la base gauche est quant à elle dédiée à la résistance en flexion de l’ensemble. Digital simulations as well as physical tests have proved the asymmetrical behavior of a frame while under the efforts of a rider. We have therefore developed optimized structure profiles in order to increase rigidity and improve performance. The right chainstay is straight and supports the compression efforts generated by the chain, whereas the left chainstay is dedicated to flexion resistance of the ensemble.

No other technology offers such a wealth of choice and such precision in the location of the various fibers used. By choosing to weave its fibers, TIME today enjoys a catalog of over 100 different braids. Over 25 fiber’s shades and 17 exclusive carbon fiber braiding machines allow TIME to achieve its own tailored braids, depending on the desired characteristics. Selected, positioned and oriented as required, braids build layer after layer the bicycle future structure.

CARBON MATRIX TECHNOLOGY

Using RTM, TIME creates frames that deliver comfort and performance. VECTRAN® fiber are weaved lengthwise to erase performance-sapping vibrations. Lateral and torsional rigidity is ensured by the precise placement and orientation of selected fibers in desired areas. The unified behavior of the bike, offers a quality ride and unparalleled handling. RTM technology enables precise and excellent reproducibility of the desired ride characteristics. The injection of the resin under pressure ensures consistent impregnation of the fiber weave layers and eliminates the risk of delamination and structural weakness. The industrial reliability of RTM allows TIME to offer a lifetime warranty on all of our frames.
