VISION GTM
The main objective was to design an underground metro station, located under an urban pedestrian plaza. The vision from the start included creating a correlation between the inside of the station and the outside world, to enrich the experience for the users of the station. Another goal was having a pronounced ceiling inside the station to define and unify the internal space.

CHALLENGE 1 Station ceiling
The concept of the station is a pattern of structural beams on the inside, that reflects onto the urban plaza as walkways (see diagrams to the right). The beams deal with both gravitational forces and lateral earth pressure for the station. They are also creating unique opportunities both in the ceiling and on ground level, in terms of arranging inside technical elements, and the outside urban composition.

The project is located on a fictional site in Singapore, which consists of an urban pedestrian plaza perpendicularly crossing a light traffic road. The urban plaza is surrounded by primarily commercial buildings. The road consists of two car lanes, parking, and a tram with two stations.

Trondheim city is hosting parts of the European Championship in handball in 2020, and for these events Trondheim needs a new sports hall with capacity of 8000 people. The sports hall will be a multi purpose hall, that could be used for big sport events, every-day sport practice, concerts, conferences, fairs, exams and more., and can have temporary tribunes or chairs and tables added.

A runner carpet of sport is laid out at Valøya, defining a new major sport area in Trondheim. The south part of the carpet is a large outdoor plaza, situated at the ideal outdoor spot at Valøya with good sun conditions and excellent view of the river. The north part of the carpet is the new sports hall itself, containing all facilities, as well as indoor courts with both permanent and temporary seating. A roof hoovers over this part and provides shelter for the indoor activities.

MATALLMENNINGEN
VISION This project establishes a market hall which serves as Trondheim’s main food area, and a large and vivid public space by the river. The food hall gives the visitors the opportunity of seeing, experiencing and learning about food, where everything that is connected to food is accessible.

CONCEPT To serve as the city’s main food area, the project combines a indoor food hall with an outdoor market. The connection between the inside of the hall and the outside public space is enhanced by a common floor and a transparent facade.

URBAN NODES
VISION
CONCEPT
A new urban and vibrant district for Trondheim’s growing population. Proper housing well connected to the city center, being easy accessible and offering a unique cityscape. An important adjunct in the development of Trondheim.
The main principles include creating three major nodes, activating the inhabitants of the district, as well as separating the busy and tranquil places. To easily implement the changes into the existing development, the new volumes will be added in several different steps over time.
SITE By inhabitants referred to as the “forgotten tenderloin of Trondheim”, Lade is sited near the city center, sea and nature. Today Lade is used primarily as an area for large-scale shopping, and is divided in half by Haakon VIIs gate. This situation is disadvantageous for those walking and travelling by bike, as well as lacking efficiency for the driving shoppers. Additionally, the area appears separated from the rest of Trondheim city. As a result of a population growth, Trondheim is depending on a major urbanization, better infrastructure and better use of urban area. Lade’s geographical position in Trondheim makes it ideal for dealing with these challenges.

VISION This project was designed during a visualization course, which had few limitations. The project was developed as a volume having a simple layout with an interesting program. The main thoughts included emphasizing a pure and elegant structure, as well as the relation to the site. CONCEPT The non-climatized gallery has a design where the large exhibition panels are the main focus. Furthermore, the structure is made in a simple manner, to easily arrange different exhibitions. SITE The design of the gallery is thought located near the water, to allow the floor of the gallery to phase out into the sea. A fictional site off the shore of Chicago was chosen, which gave the possibility of having the Chicago skyline as a backdrop in the visuals.

Unifying horizontal plane
VISION As a proposed design for the 2014 Archifest Pavilion competition, this project aims to unify various aspects of crowd under one horizon, which fosters interaction between different groups of people. Additionally, it responds to the brief criteria of being zero waste, and all materials used are designed and utilized based on their after life.

CONCEPT The pavilion emphasizes on the usage of minimal geometry to introduce a dynamic shaded architectural space, designed for various types of crowds to enjoy and interact, while maintaining the visual connection between visitors and the Singapore Skyline. SITE Situated at the event plaza directly in front of the Marina Bay Sands Shoppes, the site offers spectacular views over most of the prominent sights in Singapore. The site also works as a transition space from the shops to the sea.
