Kirsty is an avid reader and self-published author known by the pen name Kirsty F. McKay. She released her debut urban fantasy novel, “The Veils of Valoria,” in November 2019. Living in Middlesbrough, England, Kirsty is happily married with three children and two grandchildren. She is a proud animal lover, affectionately known as a “crazy cat lady” with four cats and a Labrador.

Aside from writing and reading, Kirsty finds solace in diamond art painting. During the day, she work with her team at The Book Dragon headquarters, alongside my her daughter, Bronwyn. As a passionate reader, she frequents the local library and is known for her love of physical books, although she often indulges in Kindle reads.

Kirsty is committed to supporting fellow self-published and indie authors by offering feedback and promoting their work. Her favorite genres include fantasy, paranormal romance, the supernatural, and horror, though she also enjoys young adult and adult fiction alike. As both a reviewer and reader, Kirsty values emotional connections with characters and authentic dialogue that pulls her into the story.

Michelle Marshall

Reading has been a passion since childhood for Michelle, and she devours a wide range of genres, with a special love for mysteries and psychological thrillers. Authors like Brett Easton Ellis, Ian Rankin, and Val McDermid are among her favorites.

Michelle is also part of a monthly book club and enjoys creative writing, having had short stories published. Her husband, Tim, also works at The Book Dragon, and we they live in a coastal town.

Outside of literature, Michelle enjoys seaside walks, photography, and music by Radiohead and The Foo Fighters. She loves attending live music events and quiz nights with friends and family.

Ralph Booth

Ralph’s role involves making books accessible to the public, whether in schools, libraries, or even mysterious places like R’lyeh. An avid reader since childhood, his passion was sparked by his mother reading the “Redwall” series to him with captivating voices for its characters. Ralph enjoys fantasy and sci-fi genres, especially books that push boundaries. Susan Cooper, Brandon Sanderson, and Gene Wolfe are among his favorite authors.

Ralph has been a primary school teacher and currently narrates audiobooks. Accessibility to reading is crucial to him, as it opens imaginative worlds to all. Outside of literature, Ralph enjoys karate, leads a group of adventurers in Dungeons & Dragons, and volunteers as a Beaver leader. He and his wife are also invloved at the Guisborough Theatre Company.

Timothy’s love for books stems from his parents and uncle, who introduced me to reading through vivid storytelling. He grew up enjoying the Hardy Boys and Encyclopaedia Brown, later developing a taste for fantasy, Star Wars novels, and Douglas Adams. He also has a passion for creative writing and volunteers in an online writing community.

Outside of literature, Timothy is an avid PC gamer, enjoys attending e-sports events, playing guitar, and listening to music, particularly 90s rock and post-hardcore. Originally from Atlanta, Georgis in the U.S., Timothy currently resides on the North Yorkshire coast with his wife Michelle.
