DESIGNER OUTLET MÁLAGA

“Style is knowing what you want to say, and not giving a damn,”

declared Gore Vidal, yet any sartorial subject will tell you that it is much easier to express yourself when you are donning luxurious clothing. Deck yourself out in Tommy Hilfiger and your sporty nature will shine through; opt for BOSS to mark yourself as a modern, chic urbanite; and trip the light fantastic in Karl Lagerfeld when party season commences. Being on a budget is no obstacle to purchasing outfits ranging from high-end accessories to bling-filled gowns, thanks to the launch of McArthurGlen – an open-air designer outlet in Málaga which seeks to unite fashion, local gastronomy, and the sunny Spanish lifestyle.

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE

Don’t think you have to spend a fortune at McArthurGlen to enjoy a fulfilling experience. There are many stores with more affordable wear – including Adidas, Diesel, Crocs, and (kid’s clothing store) Charanga. Items range from high-end leather bags to beach flip-flops so if you are visiting with children, you may just find their sneakers for this year’s P.E. class or a cute knapsack for everyday use. Indeed, if sports are their (or your thing), there is a good selection of brands to choose from – including Asics and Columbia. There are also shops specialising in sunglasses (RayBan), beauty (L’Occitane), and watches (Festina).

A FULL DAY OUT

McArthurGlen is open from 10am to 10pm from Monday to Sunday until the end of September (when it will open Monday to Saturday). The array of stores and food establishments – as well as the Outlet’s proximity to Málaga – make a full day visiting the capital worthwhile. The list of restaurants at McArthurGlen is made up of Café y Tapas (where you can sample both Spanish and international dishes for breakfast/brunch, lunch, dinner, and snack time); MásQMenos (serving Iberian products and healthy traditional dishes); and Starbucks (perfect for a coffee and a sandwich, snack, or dessert).

LUXURY SERVICES

When you’re shopping for luxury items, you normally enjoy the bonus services that come with it and McArthurGlen doesn’t skimp in this regard. Among the many extra features to avail of include tax-free shopping, luggage drop, hands-free shopping, gift cards, electric car chargers, and a children’s play zone. If you don’t speak Spanish, simply ask for assistance from the multilingual Guest Service Team.

EASY ACCESS AND FREE PARKING

Two pillars of a great shopping experience are location and parking and McArthurGlen makes it all a breeze. The Designer Outlet is right next to the Plaza Mayor shopping complex and free parking abounds. The stores are easily accessed by public transport as well. From Málaga, they are 12 minutes away by train and 15 by car. From the airport, they are a short, five-minute ride. If you will be visiting from Marbella, plan for a 35-minute drive.

CULTURAL PURSUITS

McArthurGlen is firmly focused on fashion, but the company is passionate about art in all its forms and frequently shares this interest with its clients. Recently, the firm teamed up with the Carmen Thyssen Museum in Málaga to create a special fashion tour through the Museum that invited art lovers to learn about the evolution of fashion as captured by the works of Ramón Casas, Velázquez, Julio Romero de Torres, and more. This Museum specialises in Spanish paintings from the 19th and 20th centuries and is an oasis of information about life in these eras. McArthurGlen’s Centre ›

Manager, Javier Mendizabal, told the press, “McArthurGlen is delighted to commence our collaboration with the Museo Carmen Thyssen Málaga with this project, which perfectly symbolises the union between both entities. The world of culture, manifested through different artistic genres such as sculpture, painting, photography or music, has always had a strong presence in our centres.”

AT HOME AND ABROAD

In the past, McArthurGlen has hosted exhibitions by renowned artists such as Rodin, Rembrandt, and fashion photographer, Michel Haddi. Some McArthurGlen centres have permanent exhibitions featuring works by artists of world renown. The company is fond of collaborations with cultural and artistic groups and institutions. For instance, its Noventa di Piave Designer Outlet in Italy partnered up with the stunning La Fenice Theatre to bring free exhibitions and events to the three million local and international shoppers who visit the outlet every year. One of these events, entitled Fashion Meets Opera, showcased some of the most stunning costumes worn on La Fenice’s iconic stage.

A GLOBAL PHENOMENON

The McArthurGlen group owns 26 designer outlets in 10 countries: Germany, Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, the UK, and Spain. These multi-store centres are home to premium and luxury brands which are easily recognised around the globe. The Group offers over 90 million clients attractive items at discounted prices throughout the year. ›
