DOWNTON ABBEY: A NEW ERA

In this, the second Downton Abbey feature film, Dowager Countess of Grantham inherits a villa from “a man she met in France” and the Crawley family goes on a grand journey to discover more about her mysterious past. Many actors from the series and first film will return, including Elizabeth McGovern and Hugh Bonneville as Cora and Robert Crawley. There will be some new faces as well, played by Hugh Dancy, Dominic West, and Laura Haddock. The producers promise that the script is “very funny” so this film is definitely a must if you are after a ‘feelgood’ viewing experience.

DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS

This film follows on from Spider-Man: No Way Home. He is joined by helpful allies, including Wanda Maximoff (Scarlet Witch), a woman with amazing telekinetic and energy manipulation powers.

Based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King, Firestarter is the story of a husband and wife who are desperately trying to hide their daughter from a government agency that wants to exploit her ability to set things on fire and use it as a weapon of mass destruction. Her father teaches her to keep her ‘gift’ under control but when she turns 11, her fire becomes more difficult to control.

This remake of The Man Who Never Was (1956) is the true story of a successful British deception operation that took place in WWII. The year was 1943 and the Allies were ready to invade Sicily. They had an almost impossible challenge at hand: that of fooling Hitler into thinking they were actually attacking Greece and Sardinia. The allies dressed a deceased homeless man as an officer of the Royal Marines, placing items on him that would identify him as a fictitious Captain. They also placed fictitious correspondence between two British generals on his body to outwit the Germans.
