BABY ORANGUTAN IS BORN AT BIOPARC FUENGIROLA Visitors to Bioparc in Fuengirola were recently able to view a baby Borneo orangutan, the only one born through a conservation programme in Europe in the past 12 months. Orangutans normally give birth at night, but staff and visitors were surprised when Suli, a female Borneo orangutan, gave birth in the light of day. Orangutans are the primates that take the most time to rear their young. Chimpanzees and gorillas normally take four or five years to grant their offspring independence, but orangutans can take up to seven years to do so. i www.bioparcfuengirola.es
