Ten Americans: After Paul Klee
A hypnotic and immersive visual experience, Parallel Universe is a retrospective exhibit of works by Turkish art studio Ouchhh. Visually and wonderfully mesmerizing, the 3D motion mapped projections and light installations immerse the viewer in a psychedelic, eyeof-the-storm experience of whirling fractals and light beams. Drawing inspiration from science, mathematics and even astrology, these gripping installations explore representations of nature and the reconstruction of space through new digital media.
Explore the influential role of Swiss-born artist Paul Klee (1879–1940) in the development of mid-20th century American art. Ten Americans sheds new light on important figures in American Abstract Expressionist and Color Field painting who adapted aspects of Klee’s art and ideology into their own artistic development. The exhibit features more than 60 paintings, prints and drawings from collections in the US and Switzerland.

Hold These Truths
Presented in partnership with Georgetown University’s department of performing arts, The Lathe of Heaven is a work of fiction centering around the idea that dreams can alter reality. George Orr comes under the hand of a doctor eager to exploit this amazing phenomenon. Together, Doctor Haber decides they will remake the world, however dreams won’t be trained or coerced. As the good doctor uses his patient to tinker with reality, unintended consequences present itself.
Set during the World War II era at a time when America was placing its own citizens of Japanese ancestry in internment camps, Hold These Truths is based on the true story of Gordon Hirabayashi, an American that defied an unjust court order to uphold the values on which America was founded. Audiences will find themselves cheering for him as he remains dedicated to fighting for his unalienable rights. February 23-April 8

Happening NOW
VISITOR QUESTION:
WHAT’S HAPPENING ON THE C&O CANAL IN GEORGETOWN? The Georgetown section of the C&O Canal National Historical Park has been undergoing rehabilitation work since October 2016. The repairs to two of the canal’s historic lift locks are scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2018. When work is complete, partial water will return to the canal, and the towpath will re-open between Thomas Jefferson St. and 30th Street.
Canal boat tours are expected to return in 2020, when the park’s nonprofit partner Georgetown Heritage delivers a new historic replica canal boat. These repairs are part of the first phase of a major effort to restore, revitalize, and reimagine the Georgetown section of the Canal. For more on the plans for the future of the canal visit georgetownheritage.org.
This information is provided by the Georgetown Business Improvement District and Georgetown Heritage, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization working to revitalize, activate, and interpret the National Park Service assets in Georgetown. To learn more, visit georgetownheritage.org

1770 Euclid Street NW
(The Wharf/Navy Yard)
(Adams Morgan)
After serving as executive chef for over a decade at downtown’s Proof, Haidar Karoum opened his first restaurant last month in the popular Navy Yard district. Dishes reflect not only his Lebanese background, but also his extensive travel around Western Europe and Southeast Asia. Expect medium-sized plates as well as a few larger family-style platters. Don’t miss Karoum’s signature dish, crispy cauliflower with lemon, tahini, pine nuts and mint, an homage to one of his father’s dishes.
This is just one of restaurants at the newly opened Line Hotel in Adams Morgan. The eatery from restaurateur Erik Bruner-Yang, boasts dishes native to Asia, Europe and the Americas. Diners can find options like milk-bread French toast and breakfast ‘sets’ that include a drink option for breakfast, and Asian noodles paired with zesty sausage and an octopus hot dog on lunch and dinner menus. Look for fun quirks like fried rice prepared table side, and items that read from right to left on the menu.
Tulips
Morris
The latest restaurant to the Wooden Nickel Bar Co., Tulips takes over the old Irish Whiskey in Dupont, and patrons will drop their jaws upon laying eyes at the drastic transformation that has taken over the three-story townhome. Here you will find modern cuisine that features American fare with a European influence. After your meal head upstairs to third floor to the champagne bar for a night cap.
Named after Morris Sheppard, the Texas senator who penned the Prohibition amendment, comes this much anticipated restaurant. Morris will be twice the size of its sister restaurant, The Sheppard, and will span two floors. Backed by celebrity chef Spike Mendelsohn, the cocktail focused space will feature innovative bar accents and serve simple snacks.

The National Mall and Veterans Memorials are where all access to Washington commences. People of many races, ages, and genders come together to witness breathtaking attractions, history, and amenities Washington offers. Having been commissioned by George Washington to plan the city, Pierre-Charles L’Enfant's vision is seen through the layout of the city, from world-class monuments, museums, and recreational areas, to the White House and Capitol Building. One can quickly capture all the amenities the city offers within one day, starting with a quick run or bike on the National Mall to Arlington, visiting the veterans memorials, museums, Library of Congress, and United States Capitol. The theater experiences and amazing food journeys in our multicultural city might explain why we're sometimes called "the Switzerland of the Americas." Rock Creek Park is Washington’s oldest urban park in the National Park Service system, with more than 2,000 acres just in Northwest D.C. There are golf facilities, tennis centers, park ranger-led programs, hiking trails, picnic grounds, an amphitheater, summer concerts, bicycle paths, a nature center, river tours and much more. I embrace many types of global cuisine - it allows me to learn about a culture and the beauty it offers. My Downtown D.C. favorites are Claudia’s Steakhouse (a steakhouse and seafood restaurant with latin flair), Siroc (a classic northern Italian restaurant with a name meaning wind that blows from north Africa to Europe), Kellari Taverna (a Greek Mediterranean place with amazing seafood - see Rita!), and Mortons Steakhouse Downtown (great consistency with meats and seafood and a DC power patio open year round).

How to Get Around Town Washington, D.C.'s Metro system is one of the safest, cleanest, and most convenient transportation systems in the world. However, rail construction, limited hours, and track outages sometimes leave you out of luck. Great news - the Metro isn't your only option! Check out these alternative methods that will get you to where you need to go in no time. DC Circulator Providing public transportation to DC's biggest attractions and several neighborhoods, the Circulator is only $1 to ride. There are six routes across 136 stops going all over the District and into Rosslyn, VA. Buses arrive every ten minutes at each stop. Download RideDC app on iPhone or Android to get the most up-to-the-minute schedule. Uber Quickly becoming one of the most popular ride share services due its dependability and relatively short wait times. Simply download the Uber app on your smart phone, sign up with a credit or debit card, and begin requesting rides at the tap of a button. Drivers do not accept cash or credit cards, and tip is handled in the ride fare. What's Uber Pool? This service allows you to share a ride with another rider also headed in the vicinity of your destination. This will provide you with the cheapest fare possible, but may prolong your ride by just a bit. Lyft Easily Uber's biggest competition, Lyft has made leaps and bounds in notoriety in the district. Using the same model as Uber, there are very minor discrepancies between the two. Lyft Line, similar to Uber's Pool option, gives riders a cheaper option by sharing a ride with other passengers. Drivers keep !00% of tips left by riders. 42
nowguides.com
Capital Bike Share (CBS) With over 350 stations and 3,000 bicycles across DC, Virginia, and Maryland, CBS is an easy way to get you to your destination, while allowing you to enjoy breathtaking views of the city. Download the app and sign up with a credit card and from there you can choose from either a Day Key, or commit to a year-long membership, giving you the opportunity for unlimited rides and duration, all year long. Via Founded on the same principles as Uber and Lyft, Via differs in that it uses their smartphone app and proprietary algorithms to determine if a group of riders in in the same area are requesting a ride in the same direction. A luxury van or Sprinter Van should arrive within five minutes after a ride is requested. Via is more environmentally friendly, charges only a $5 or $7 flat fee, and also gives you the chance to meet people.
