Michael Jackson M
ichael Jackson started out in a band called the Jackson five, it was a group of five brothers that sang together. Their biggest hit was called “ABC”. Later the group split up (we don’t really know the reason), so Michael decided to continue on his own. Growing up, the Jackson’s father put a lot of pressure on his children to become more successful, especially on Michael, because he was the most talented. The decision to start on his own was actually his father’s idea.

MICHAEL’S SOLO CAREER Michael Jackson was an American singer, songwriter, dancer, and actor, his solo career started in 1971. In the 80’s his music started to become very famous. His music videos became very successful throughout the 90’s, which helped a new television channel “MTV” to become very famous. Through stage and video performances he began to make his own moves and dance techniques which became very popular, for example “the moonwalk” and “the robot”… His unique sound and style has influenced different genres like: hip-hop, post-disco, contemporary R&B, pop, and rock artists.
“THE KING OF POP” Jackson's 1982 album Thriller is the best-selling album of all time. His other albums, including Off the Wall, Bad, Dangerous, and HIStory, were also amidst the world’s greatest hits. Jackson was one of the only artists who was inducted TWICE into the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame. He won hundreds of awards, which makes him the most awarded recording artist in the history of popular music.
LATER LIFE In the mid 1990s Jackson changed his appearance, undergoing a lot of aesthetic surgery. He even changed his skin color. Michael Jackson had an amusement park built just for himself. He often invited children and has consequently accused of sexual abuse. However it was never been proven and the case was settled out of court for about $25 million. Everything about the piano The piano is a very sensitive and difficult instrument. It has many tools inside to make the sound. When you press a key, you will make a small hammer set up and strike the corresponding strings from beneath. The strings are made of hard, tough steel wire. That’s why you have to press the key hard to make nice and good sounds. Also, we can make three different sounds with this sensitive instrument. Piano of Siyeon
What are the three pedals? Pianos have three pedals. When you push the left pedal, it sounds more smooth and soft. It’s called una corda. The una corda mechanism (left pedal) was invented by Bartolomeo Cristofori. He is the first one who invented the modification of the piano's sound. The common name for the una corda is the soft pedal. The sostenuto (middle pedal), which was inspired from Boisselot & Fils. They showed the sostenuto at the French Industrial Exposition in 1844 first. French piano builders Alexandre François Debain and Claude Montal built sostenuto mechanisms in 1860 and 1862. It has been called "the soul of the piano". This pedal makes the sound more quiet and smooth. It’s a good pedal so we can play piano at night.

Lastly, the right pedal is sustaining (damper). This pedal makes the piano sound louder and smoother. Actually, if you don’t use a pedal, the music sounds staccato. In many piano songs the pedal is needed. It makes music more beautiful. 6

AMAZING SOUNDS
How do you start playing the piano? The piano is really sensitive and hard to play well. When you make mistakes people will notice it right away. Therefore, it is really hard to play perfectly. Don’t worry about playing piano. You can get it easily. You have to know your fingerings, notes and pedaling. Fingering, everyone has different fingerings because it is difficult to follow others and it can be confusing. Notes and chords are easy to learn, but the thing is you have to remember the names (like do, re, mi, fa, sol, la and ti or C, D, E, F, G, A and B). Have I convinced you to start playing the piano? Are you afraid of pedaling? Don’t worry! The sound of the piano on its own is beautiful.

Estelle Stieglitz: Do you come from a musical family?
Mr. Daniel Ruiz-Cecconello: Not really, my mom used to play the piano but not that much. My parents enjoy music like everyone else. They like to go out to dance, so my passion for music really comes from my personal interest.
Estelle Stieglitz: Do you play a lot of music in your spare time?
Mr. Daniel Ruiz-Cecconello: Yes, I love to listen to music. I experiment with all kinds of music, from classical to electronic music. And I try to be creative with music myself.
Estelle Stieglitz: Have you ever made your own music?
Mr. Daniel Ruiz-Cecconello: Yes, I make my own recordings and it’s something between analogue and electronic music. I mix acoustic piano with other instrumental devices.
Estelle Stieglitz: Why do you think music is important for so many people?

Do you think everyone should learn to play an instrument?
Mr. Daniel Ruiz-Cecconello: I do! It develops one’s oral skills and helps to concentrate and to be more disciplined. To me it’s an awareness. I think that even if you want to become a doctor or an engineer it’s good to play an instrument, even if it’s just to have fun with your friends.
Estelle Stieglitz: What’s your favourite type of music?
Mr. Daniel Ruiz-Cecconello:
A piano
I don’t really have a favourite kind of music. I like music from renaissance or baroque until today’s music. When you listen to music you can feel it in your body and if you like it, you want to be part of it and express yourself in different ways through it: to dance, to jump, to run, or any other form of exercise. I believe that music is very communicative. - Source (for image of piano) "piano-model." Steinway & Sons. N.p., n.d. Web. 4 Jan. 2015. <http://www.steinway.com/images/piano-model/GP215EP.png>.

Do you want to stay in Antwerp? Yes. I like Austria, I already know lots of it, but not Antwerp. I want to see more in Antwerp and people are really very nice and are open-minded.
I heard you are in fashion school. Why did you start to study fashion?
I only studied violin last 20 years and I couldn’t breath in that atmosphere. It was very strict and I didn’t want to live in that little music world. The listeners think why that Asian plays violin. And I didn’t like that society in classical music.
What would you want to find yourself in next 10 years? I really don’t know. I don’t know why I came to Antwerp to learn fashion. But the thing is I think I can’t live without my violin. I don’t know if I can do fashion for my whole life. Also, I enjoy learning fashion.

Q: Do you come from a musical family? A:I do most people in my family sing, play musical instruments.(suddenly the school bel rings.) Not everybody but most people do and when we have a dinner or so people often bring their instruments with them. and then we play and have a good time.
Q: What is it you like about music? (like the 3Q) A:What I like about music is that it has an emotional sake to it that touches people, and I think that people really make music their life, and are affected by that , and they like the communication they have to music.
