The park is a great place to stop and eat your lunch in the sun and has shaded areas where you can sit and read your book. You will find the local - two showroom, Orpheum Movie Theatre downtown. It must be the sunshine in Estevan that makes our art scene creative and vibrant. Downtown you will find Art Concepts Custom Framing and Gallery of Art where beautiful pieces of art by local and Saskatchewan based artists are showcased. They also host some pretty cool events such as, album release parties, watching artists do their work and classes for aspiring artists. The Estevan Art Gallery and Museum is another must see. It is regarded as a gem in the region. The gallery is home to two galartconcepts.ca lery rooms that hold a variety of exhibits. In the past The Souris Valley Museum is the perfect starting point to take a peak in the past lives of residents in our area. Explore the stories of the collectors, research family history or attend programs that are offered. When visiting the museum, visitors will get a full picture of what it was like to live in Este-
van during the pioneer days. The museum portion of the Estevan Art Gallery and Museum is the North West Mounted Police Wood End Post. It was used as a shelter to supply wood and hay and to repair equipment of the teams that were sent out to survey the land in the west. It

The Souris Valley Theatre located in Woodlawn Regional Park hosts live, professional theatre productions during the summer months. Souris Valley Museum is a year round operated Southeast regional history museum. Doors were opened to the public in 2001. The Museum’s collections cover the late 1800’s to the 1950s. Some of the highlights of the collection include the Schneller Schoolhouse, a Harvest Cook Car, the Durr Family Homestead, some of the first Fire Engines in Estevan, and a large outdoor display of Heritage Mining Equipment.

Affinity Place If you love live music and entertainment, then seeing a concert or sporting event in Affinity Place should be on your list of things to do in Estevan. Rodeo and Midway The Estevan Exhibition Association is host to the CCA Rodeo and Midway that is steeped in tradition and remains true to its roots of western heritage. The 2019 rodeo is held on August 23 & 24 and is part of the Canadian Cowboys Association circuit. Professional cowboys and cowgirls compete for prizes and points. During the rodeo, a local group, Calamity Cowgirls - Trick Riders, wow the crowds with their daring and beautiful stunts. Their show is a must to see. The midway is full of excitement. It has a variety of rides, attractions and play areas for all ages. Kiddieland is perfect for families and their young children to play while the daredevils have plenty of rides to choose from. At the Estevan Farmers Market you will find local produce, food, art and unique handmade products. It begins in early May and peaks in August. Vendors offer their products every Saturday from 9am until 1pm at the Estevan Shoppers Mall Parking lot. They sell everything from seasonal vegetables to locally dried soup mixes. The Farmers Market re-opens Saturday mornings inside the Estevan Shoppers Mall mid November for their Christmas Market.
That other ‘Black Gold’ is in abundance in Estevan. There are many places to grab a coffee on the run or sit back and visit on “Coffee Row.” The city is home to two Tim Hortons restaurants, who in Canada, dominate the coffee market. They both have interior sitting spaces and drive thru’s so you can grab a coffee and go! Family restaurants are a great place to sit and enjoy a cup. The Tower Cafe, Blackbeards Restaurant, The Flats Eatery and Drink and Fired up Grill, all have a cozy atmosphere and delicious brew.

Teeing Off Saskatchewan has more courses per capita than anywhere in Canada and our local course selections add to that number. There are three courses that are under a forty-minute drive, with two being right outside city limits. TS&M Woodlawn Golf Course is a beautiful 18-hole - par 72 course that is challenging and entertaining. The course has a fully licensed clubhouse with a restaurant and lounge that is open full time in peak season and for private functions in the off season. Hidden Valley Golf & RV Resort is a 9-hole - par 29 course that has a great family atmosphere. It has a concession where you can purchase snacks, mini golf, a driving range and three practice holes. Coal Country Run The Coal Country Run is in its 12th year and has transformed into a great run designed to challenge any fitness level. Typically held on the second Saturday in May that includes a 5K, 10K or Kids Mini-Mile. The race snakes you through trails in Woodlawn Regional Park and tours you through the campgrounds that gives you views of the river and the nearby golf course. Run the Course & Fresh Air Fitness Run the Course is a fun, non-timed race. It is a family race with multiple lengths to choose from including; Front 9, Full Course, Course Plus 10K and Kids Course 10K. The event is a great way to try a new route, see the golf course from a unique angle and get out and enjoy the fresh air. The organizers donate the money raised from the race back to Fresh Air Fitness, an area within Woodlawn Regional Park that is dedicated to outdoor fitness structures.

Paddle the Souris Whether Canoeing or Kayaking, the Souris River is used frequently as an escape of city life and an opportunity to get close to nature. If you have your own boat, set into the river at the day park of Woodlawn Regional Park, if not, rent either from the gatehouse. Paddling West and staying on the North side of any forks will take you up river where you will pass Hidden Valley Golf and RV Resort. (It takes about an hour there, depending on your speed.) You can also explore all of the little forks that will take you under bridges and around fallen trees. You might even get lucky and see the infamous ‘Giant Turtle!’

Hunting & Fishing Hunting and fishing is a very popular pastime for visitors and residents in our area. The Estevan Wildlife Federation along with the Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment work hard at protecting and sustaining our fish and wildlife habitats. Upland and Migratory birds are in abundance in the area. You may find Pheasant, Sharp Tailed Grouse, Hungarian Partridge, Geese, Duck and Sandhill Cranes. Boone and Crocket Record Holders call Estevan home. Whitetail and Mule Deer, Moose and Elk roam the area. When it comes to fishing, Estevan is like no other in Saskatchewan. Fishers can find Walleye, Yellow Perch, Northern Pike, Largemouth Bass and Trout in our local lakes, rivers and stocked pits. Be sure to check the rules and regulations with local authorities of hunting and fishing in Saskatchewan.
