Esther Leyva, actualmente estudiante de licenciatura en Arquitectura de Interiores en la ESAV, nació el 22 de enero del 2000 en California, Estados Unidos. Creció en México rodeada tanto de tradiciones y costumbres familiares como de libros y documentales de historia, naturaleza y espacio. Durante sus estudios de bachillerato aún sin algún plan para el futuro, pero interesada en las artes, opta por el dibujo arquitectónico como capacitación para el trabajo, lo que la lleva a interesarse en la arquitectura sin dejar de lado sus pasatiempos como la pintura y fotografía. Concluido el bachillerato decide seguir en el camino de la arquitectura pero con una expresión más artística, decide inscribirse a licenciatura en arquitectura de interiores. Actualmente cursando, ésta le permite unir sus intereses y habilidades en la creación de espacios y mobiliario, adoptando su identidad y creatividad como parte de un proceso.
Esther Leyva, currently undergraduate student in Interior Architecture at ESAV, was born on January 22, 2000 in California, United States. She grew up in Mexico surrounded by family traditions, books and documentaries of history and nature. During her high school studies, still without any plans for the future, but interested in the arts, she opts for architectural drawing as training for work, which leads her to become interested in architecture without neglecting her hobbies such as painting and photography. After finishing high school, she decides to continue on the path of architecture but through a more artistic path, so she decides to enroll in a interior architecture degree. Currently studying, it allows her to unite her interests and skills in creating spaces and furniture, adopting her identity and creativity as part of a process.

PROYECTOS \ PROJECTS
Los proyectos son parte esencial de la formación como arquitecto de interiores. Con ellos desarrollamos habilidades y aptitudes para lidiar con los desafíos de la practica profesional. Cada uno de ellos presenta sus propias características y retos. Un tanto de investigación, otro poco análisis de espacio y un oportuno estudio del cliente son los puntos base para desarrollarlos de la manera apropiada. Los proyectos presentados a continuación son elegidos por ser recientes y diferentes entre si.
Projects are an essential part of training as an interior architect. With them we develop skills and aptitudes to deal with the challenges of professional practice. Each of them presents its own challenges and characteristics . A bit of research, a little analysis of space and a proper study of the client are the base points to develop a project in the appropriate way. The projects presented below are chosen for being recent and different from each other.

PROYECTO PARQUE MIGUEL HIDALGO El espacio publico posterior a la pandemia
Este proyecto fue realizado de la mano de una investigación para la materia de Contexto Arquitectónico enfocándose en como el covid-19 afectara a los espacios públicos como los conocemos. Millones de personas en aislamiento por un tiempo indefinido, atrapadas dentro de sus hogares y como parece normalizarse en las grandes ciudades, casas aglomeradas donde la vista no va mas allá de la pared de tu vecino, el verde de la naturaleza se limita a una maceta y el aire fresco es limitado o nulo. La pandemia a sacado a relucir lo deficiente de planes de urbanización y la arquitectura de nuestros hogares. El único escape seguro: espacios abiertos, entre ellos los parques. En el caso de este parque, el reto no era solo adecuar el parque a los tiempos modernos, sino también mantener su esencia de pueblo mágico. MOODBO
This project was carried out by the hand of an investigation for the subject of Architectural Context focusing on how covid19 will affect public spaces as we know them. Millions of people in isolation for an indefinite time, trapped inside their homes and as it seems to be normal in big cities, crowded houses where the view does not go beyond your neighbor's wall, the green of nature is limited to a flowerpot and fresh air is limited or nonexistent.

The pandemic has brought out the deficiencies of urbanization plans and the architecture of our homes. The only safe escape: open spaces, among them, parks. In the case of this park, the challenge was not only adapt the park to modern times, but also keep your essence of magical town.

Peatones Señala el área por la que pueden andar los peatones en azul y en color verde se anexan los cruces peatonales.
Vehículos Traza las rutas por donde transitan los autos y el nombre de las calles. Cabe señalar que las calles Presidente Lázaro Cárdenas y Libertad, son seccionadas por parque y estas secciones conservan su nombre.
Uso de suelo El área del proyecto (naranja) es contemplada como espacio publico, los predios aledaños son en su mayoría comerciales, a excepción del palacio municipal que se cataloga como aditamento urbano.
Vista aérea Una primera imagen de Google earth nos proporciona una vista de como las áreas funcionan en conjunto.
La propuesta se separo en diferentes proyectos, entre los que resaltan la restauración de los adoquines retirados años atrás, limitar los accesos del parque de manera que se pueda controlar el acceso, instalar un pergolado para resaltar las dos entradas principales, adicionando un sistema de sanitización, renovar las jardineras adicionando una nueva propuesta de vegetación mas adecuado a la regiòn. El proyecto utiliza formas y materiales recopilados de la localidad y se emplean en la construcción o adaptación de elementos necesarios, de manera que el parque se adapte al futuro recordando el pasado.
The proposal was separated into different projects, among which the restoration of the cobblestones removed years ago stands out, limiting access to the park so that access can be controlled, installing a pergola to highlight the two main entrances, adding a sanitation system , renew the planters with a new proposal of vegetation more suitable to the region. The project uses shapes and materials collected from the locality and they are used in the construction or adaptation of necessary elements, so that the park adapts to the future remembering the past.

La pérgola propuesta, esta inspirada en la silueta de la fachada de la iglesia, ambas opciones parten de ese mismo concepto. La idea es innovar con la energía renovable y colocar paneles solares en la parte superior de la estructura de manera que el farol se encienda con energía limpia. La herrería del centro tiene un poco de las formas halladas en las bancas del parque, pero mayormente de las artesanías de Tecate (rombos) y el escudo del ayuntamiento (sol).

The proposed pergola is inspired by the silhouette of the facade of the church, both options are based on the same concept. The idea is to innovate with renewable energy and place solar panels on top of the structure so that the lantern is lit with clean energy. The ironwork in the center has a bit from the shapes found on the park benches, but mostly of Tecate handicrafts (rhombuses) and the shield of the town hall (sun).
Finalmente, a partir de la investigación de campo se propone implementar solo vegetación nativa dentro del parque. La finalidad no es solo adornar las jardineras, también ilustrar de la riqueza natural con la que cuenta Tecate. Finally, based on the field research, it is proposed to implement only native vegetation within the park. The purpose is not only to enhance the planters, but also to illustrate the natural wealth that Tecate has.

Emma es un restaurante fusión que abraza la gastronomía de francesa y la de Baja California. Con el aumento en la popularidad de los parques gastronómicos en Tijuana, hacer una aparición en una versión food truck no suena del todo descabellada. Para este proyecto se realizaron dos propuestas que optimizaran el poco espacio disponible, pero sin dejar de lado las características que le dan identidad a este restaurante.
Emma is a fusion restaurant that embraces French and Baja California cuisine. With the rise in popularity of food parks at Tijuana, making an appearance in a food truck version doesn't sound entirely outlandish. For this project, two proposals were made to optimize the little space available, without neglecting the characteristics that give this restaurant its identity.

Propuesta Contenedor
Se realizaron dos propuestas, Lumière, la cual abraza el romanticismo del lugar y la propuesta contenedor, una forma muy común en los parques gastronómicos. Two proposals were made, Lumière, which embraces the romanticism of the place and The Container proposal, a very common form in gastronomic parks.

Con la creciente demanda de atención médica y las circunstancias (covid-19), el cliente ha notado un área de oportunidad en el sector, desean abrir un consultorio enfocado a atender mujeres o victimas de abuso, si bien no de manera única, solicitan un consultorio con una sensación de refugio y calidez en el espacio, con materiales hipoalergénicos y una mejor distribución.
With the growing demand for medical atenttion and the current circumstances (covid-19), the client has noticed an area of opportunity in the sector, they want to open a espace focused on serving women or victims of abuse, although not in a unique way, they request a space with a feeling of shelter and warmth, with hypoallergenic materials and a better distribution.

PROPUESTA ESPACIO
Como en los dos anteriores, este proyecto conto con un par de propuestas. Esta propuesta se caracteriza por dar la sensación de tener mucho espacio, la amplitud de la recepción hace que el espacio se sienta abierto, y la pequeña división con las maderas no interfiere con la linea de visión hasta el fondo. A su vez es el costo es menor a la próxima gracias al concepto abierto y pocas modificaciones necesarias.

As in the previous two, this project had a couple of proposals. This proposal is characterized by giving the feeling of having a lot of space, the amplitude of the reception makes the space feel open, and the light division with the wood does not interfere with the line of sight to the bottom. In turn, the cost is lower than the next one thanks to the open concept and few necessary modifications.

PROPUESTA EXTRA La propuesta extra reduce en un aproximadamente en 50% el tamaño del área de espera, conserva la sensación de espacio, no en las proporciones de la anterior pero esta permite un compartimento extra para tratamientos de suero u otros por intravenosa, de manera que se pueda recibir pacientes en los consultorios sin encimar las sesiones. The extra proposal reduces the size of the waiting area by approximately 50%, preserves the sensation of space, but not in the proportions of the previous one, instead it allows an extra compartment for intravenous treatments, so they can receive patients in the offices without overlapping the sessions.

MOBILIARIO El mobiliario nos acompaña a lo largo de nuestro día y se ha vuelto no solo una necesidad, o un objeto practico, sino una forma de expresión dentro de los espacios. Entender conceptos de ergonomía, diseño y estilo permiten crear o restaurar mobiliario que se volverá una pieza única en un diseño.
Furniture accompanies us throughout our day and has become not only a necessity, or a practical object, but a form of expression within spaces. Understanding concepts of ergonomics, design and style allow you to create or restore furniture that will become a unique piece in a design.

Restauración de mueble familiar, un juguetero de madera que ha estado en la familia al menos unos 50 años, se incorporo la propuesta de diseñar cojines que acompañen el mueble.
Restoration of a family furniture, a wooden toy trunk that has been in the family for at least 50 years, the proposal to design cushions that accompany the furniture was incorporated.

El baúl tomo 3 semanas de trabajo, mientras que los cojines llevaron 5 semanas. Ambos trabajados en simultaneo. The trunk took 3 weeks of work, while the cushions took 5 weeks. Both where worked simultaneously.

-02LOVESEAT El mueble fue pensado para un consultorio, tomamos como inspiración las formas simples y se aplico para un diseño limpio y versátil. La propuesta era lograr un aspecto natural, pero sin dejar de lado la funcionalidad de este. The furniture was designed for a medical office, we took as inspiration the simple shapes and applied it for a clean and versatile design. The proposal was to achieve a natural look, but without neglecting its functionality.

PEQUEÑAS MAQUETAS, GRANDES IDEAS
Expresar las ideas de un proyecto no siempre es sencillo, hacer que el resto de las personas lo entiendan, es aún más complicado. Las maquetas son una una manera de presentar grandes ideas en dimensiones manejables, por ello son tan importantes, no solo nos permiten comunicar cómo quedaría un espacio en escala, algunas veces en su forma, tamaño, materiales y técnica comunican un poco del carácter de un proyecto.
Expressing the ideas of a project is not always easy, making the rest of the people understand it is even more complicated. Models are a way to present great ideas in manageable dimensions, that is why they are so important, they not only allow us to communicate how a space would look in scale, sometimes in their shape, size, materials and technique they communicate a bit of the character in the proposal.

MINI MAQUETA Casa del lago
Para este proyecto en particular, se desarrolló el concepto de una pequeña cabaña junto al lago. Una de las ideas a plasmar era el encanto de los espacios pequeños, y para ello la maqueta también debía ser increíblemente pequeña, con madera balsa para la estructura y acetato para las ventanas y reflejo del agua, la pequeña estructura tiene más horas de trabajo de las que expresa y algo que caracteriza los pequeños espacios, guardan en ellos más de lo que podemos ver a simple vista.
For this particular project, the concept developed was a small cabin by the lakeside. One of the ideas was to capture the charm of small spaces, and for this the model also had to be incredibly small, with balsa wood for the structure and acetate for the windows and reflection of the water, the small structure has more hours of work than those that it expresses and that's part of the beauty of samll spaces, they store in them more than what we can see at plain sight.

ESTRUCTURA Cabaña
Las maquetas no siempre muestran un espacio terminado, algunas veces están ahí con el único propósito de ilustrar un poco del carácter de un proyecto. Este en particular terminó como un non finito, la tarea era una cabaña familiar, la maqueta era un apoyo visual a esta, la estructura seria el punto visual, así que la maqueta quedo en algún punto de ello, anexando detalles únicamente para resaltarlo. Los materiales fueron foamboard, cartoncillo y madera balsa. As previusly said, models do not always show a finished space, sometimes they are there for the sole purpose of illustrating a bit of the character of a project. This one in particular ended up as a non-finito, the task was a family cabin, the model was a visual support to it, the structure would be the visual point, so the model was at some point in it, adding details only to highlight it. The materials were foamboard, cardboard and balsa wood.

Las ilustraciones son la parte más común en los proyectos de arquitectura de interiores, ya sean técnicos, ilustrativos o meramente visuales, son la herramienta que más usamos. Explorar las diferentes técnicas disponibles abre paso al desarrollo de nuevas ideas y caminos que puede tomar un proyecto.
Illustrations are the most common part in interior architecture projects, whether technical, illustrative or merely visual, they are the tool we use the most. Exploring the different techniques available opens the way to the development of new ideas and paths that a project can take.

Como arquitecto de interiores hay un gran panorama de habilidades para desarrollar, algunas un poco fuera de lo común, pero son esas pequeñas cosas que hacen de nuestro trabajo sea único; un poco de pintura, algunas luces, intentar algo nuevo, un pasatiempo… las razones varían, pero son siempre una oportunidad para enriquecer nuestro trabajo.
As an interior architect there is a great landscape of skills to develop, some a little bit out of the ordinary, but it is those little things that make our work unique; a little paint, some lights, trying something new, a hobby ... the reasons vary, but they are always an opportunity to enrich our work.

Experimentar con la luz, materiales y sombras se ha vuelto uno de mis pasatiempos favoritos. Un poco de papel, algunas telas, luces, un poco de diamantina y un domo de vidrio fueron los elementos clave de esta lámpara de 22cm de diámetro y 32cm de altura.
Experimenting with light, materials, and shadows has become one of my favorite hobbies. Some paper, some fabrics, lights, a little bit of glitter and a glass dome were the key elements of this 22cm diameter and 32cm high lamp.

Pensada como un elemento decorativo esta montada sobre una base de madera, sus medidas generales 25 x 25 cm de base y 45 cm de altura. Concrete, dust stain and arches are the elements that stand out in this piece. Designed as a decorative element, it is mounted on a wooden base, its general measures 25 x 25 cm in base and 45 cm in height.
