Several years of experience with advanced makeup, hair styling, portfolio building, fashion and photography, has enabled us to develop our specialty makeup program with a successful team of instructors that will increase your career opportunities in Calgary, throughout Alberta, within Canada and abroad. Our goal is to emerge a competent, industry-ready Advanced Professional Makeup Artist.
Take your skills to the Next Level with our Advanced Makeup Artistry Diploma! If you desire to expand your artistry skills, our Advanced Makeup Diploma Program, is articulated to assist and diversify your career portfolio. Available only as a full-time 12-week course, our unique diploma program is aimed at makeup artists who desire to establish strong professional skills in both makeup and in business. This unique program allows efficient time with learning hands-on basic and advanced makeup techniques, working with all ethnicities, all ages, skin conditions and disabilities. Trends versus personal style are heavily discussed while learning to enhance and comfortably work with all eye/face shapes accordingly. This will equip our students for both corporate, wedding, fashion, film and portrait photography. By working closely with our program educators over these 12 weeks, our students will experience strong skillsets in makeup artistry, competitive marketing skills and develop a job ready professional portfolio. Our educators feel strongly that this will assist the success of our student’s career as a Professional Makeup Artist and set the bar for your career future with this achieved diploma.

Trena’s work is continuously published in magazines, ezines and appears as a guest blogger on health, beauty and wedding blogs. With extensive experience educating clients and students through her expertise in skin and professional makeup services, Trena is thrilled to develop and launch the new Advanced Makeup Program to assist students with skills in both professional makeup and business mindset. This new opportunity to take the necessary time to learn while in a makeup program will allow the students to experience practical, hands-on, real life experience and assist students with securing faster employment or launching their own freelance business in a competitive market that is steadfast and constantly evolving. Trena has had the utmost pleasure educating students at the Esthetic Institute for the past 7 years as their Makeup Educator, designing skill building classes and workshops while seeing student’s accomplishments, and mentoring others to be prepared for what their new career will provide. MICHELLE SHAMPAIGN Makeup Artist Assistant Educator Born and raised in Calgary, Michelle has been a Professional Makeup Artist for the past 6 years and has been a Lead Artist on the Trena Laine Makeup Studio squad for last several years. Michelle started her own artistry company, Shampaign Taste, years following being a cancer survivor herself and wanting to empower others around her. She currently runs her lash extension business at the Trena Laine Makeup Studio. Michelle understands both enhancement makeup for wedding, runway and professional photoshoots after years of working with Trena Laine and building a solid clientele. Her knowledge of the human skin and working with client’s unique situations has separated her from many others in the Calgary industry. Prior to launching her company full time, Michelle worked part time at Sephora. She became known as the “natural artist” with the in-store clients with her skills and paying attention to detail, and this is what makes her shine on the Trena Laine squad as both a Lead Artist and now Makeup Instructor & Assistant at the Esthetic Institute. Early 2018, Michelle has been training and educating alongside Trena to ensure students are experiencing and being educated for real life, job ready skills. TO YOUR PROGRAM SQUAD JESSICA CATHERIN Photographer Jessica Catherin of Jessica Catherin and 38 Water Street, is a Calgary based, high end photographer, that specializes in architecture, design, head shots and fashion for the last 6 years. Jess went to the Alberta College of Art and Design achieving a degree in design and a major in both Marketing and Photography. You may have seen Jess’s work published in various blogs and magazines such as Confetti, Rocky Mountain Bride and Avenue Calgary. Jess continues to work in Calgary, Canadian Rockies, Saskatoon, California, Mexico, and coming soon New Zealand in the new year. Jess assists locals with their branding images from boutique fitness studios such as Undrcard Boxing studio, Mode fitness, and One Cycle Spin Studio, along with local restaurants, such as Craft, and Made Foods. She continues to support local charities and initiatives including The Kids Helpline, the See Me Addiction awareness campaigns, and several other various homeless & cancer related campaigns. ROBERT GAUTREAU Hair Stylist Knowing that he can make a difference in someone’s life by helping them view themselves in a more positive way is why Robert began his journey in the hair industry 5 years ago. He has served the Millrise and Inglewood communities behind the chair, gaining a wonderful clientele along the way. With 10 years of visual merchandising experience, he’s also found excitement in executing a vision. The journey is equally as important as the end goal! Over the years he has gained extensive experience behind-the-scenes at hair shows, photo shoots, weddings and fashion shows. Education has consistently been a part of Robert’s career; he has taken advanced cutting and styling education through the brands Evo Hair, Sunlights Balayage, Oligo Professionnel, Schwarzkopf, Sexy Hair and Redken. Specializing in creative coloring and long hair cutting/styling, he regularly attends classes and seminars to learn new techniques. He also keeps up with current hair trends/styles for inspiration and to keep things exciting for his clients at his home-based salon.
