INTERNATIONAL STUDENT REQUIREMENTS
The Esthetic Institute CIDESCO Diploma Program
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Applicants to the CIDESCO program are required to have completed secondary school, including Grade 10 mathematics and Grade 12 English and must be over the age of 18. While there are no other specific academic prerequisites, biology, chemistry, and electrical physics will be featured strongly in this program, therefore an adequate background in these subjects would be an asset to students.
1) In order to be accepted to the program, the student must provide the Institute with each of the following:
A) Students must formally submit an application to the International Diploma Program.
B) Within the application, students will be asked to complete an essay discussing what attracts them to The Esthetic Institute’s CIDESCO program, and the traits they possess that will help them to excel. Students must discuss what they expect the program to be like and what they hope to learn from it. The essay must be written in their own hand print or hand writing.
C) A sponsorship letter or official documentation indicating that they are able to pay for the program and their living expenses while enrolled in the course.
D) Evidence of proficiency in English (written and verbal)
E) Education records of high school and/or post-secondary education completed.
The Esthetic Institute conducts all classes in English and does not have the capacity to offer language assistance. Students must be proficient enough to participate in classes, study, communicate with students, educators, and clients, write client notes and essays, as well as be examined in English without assistance. Please note that international students are personally and solely responsible for acquiring any required visas to study in Canada.
2) International students must complete a one hour live webcam interview with the diploma program director. At this time, they will also receive a detailed orientation regarding the structure of the program, fees required, and refund policies.

3) In order to assess applicants' English proficiency, a TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) exam is required to be completed by the applicant in their home country with final scores submitted to TEI for consideration.

4) Students are required to pay a $35.00 application processing fee.
5) Students are required to secure their own living accommodations as The Esthetic Institute does not support campus housing.
6) The Esthetic Institute does not provide Health Care Insurance. Students are strongly encouraged to obtain personal health care insurance from their home country prior to arrival in Canada.
IMPORTANT
International students graduating from The Esthetic Institute are not eligible for the Post Graduate Work Permit Program.
STUDENT DISPUTE RESOLUTION PROCESS
The Esthetic Institute (TEI) has a full-time student adviser on campus to discuss any concerns or disputes regarding the academic programmes we offer. Students are invited to speak directly to the student adviser or may submit a confidential evaluation form should a situation arise that requires resolution. In addition, the education school director is also available to assist both the student and adviser should additional support or action be required. The student adviser is available during regular school business hours of Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

POLICY FOR TUITION FEES AND REFUNDS
TUITION FEES
The Institution may charge a registration fee of up to $500, which will be credited towards unpaid tuition fees (as per Section 14 of the Private Vocational Training Regulation). The Institution may retain this fee if a student does not attend the Program unless:
(1) The Student terminates the enrollment contract within four business days of signing it (Section 15 of the Private Vocational Training Regulation).
(2) The Institution terminates the enrollment contract before the Program begins (Section 16(2) (a) of the Private Vocational Training Regulation).
(3) The Program does not begin by the start date and the student chooses to terminate the enrollment contract as a result (Section 16(2)(b) of the Private Vocational Training Regulation).
The school cannot require or accept payment of the registration fee until the student has Signed the enrollment contract and cannot accept payment of any other tuition or any incidental fees before the Program begins (Section 14(2) of the Private Vocational Training Regulation).
If the enrollment contract is terminated after the Program begins, the Institution is entitled to the payment of tuition fees as outlined in Section 17 of the Private Vocational Training Regulation, which is as follows:
- 25% of the total tuition fees as identified in Part C: Program Cost of this contract if 10% or less of the Program is provided
- 60% of the total tuition fees as identified in Part C: Program Cost of this contract if more than 10% but less than 50% of the Program is provided
- 100% if more than 50% of the Program is provided.
If a student paid more tuition than the Institution is entitled to under Section 17(1), the Institution must refund the difference.
The Institution may withhold student final credential if fees are not paid in full at the time of graduation.
All fees are due on the official first day of the program for International Students.
The Esthetic Institute will provide a formal letter of acceptance to students, which outlines all particulars including the start and end dates, and total tuition fees for the program.

REFUND POLICY
Any refund that the Institution is required to pay, will be paid to the source of payment for the tuition fees (i.e. the student, Government, agency, or person other than the student) and/or to any outstanding student loan where applicable (Section 21 of the Private Vocational Training Regulation).
As outlined by the Alberta Private Vocational Training Act (PVT ACT)
Refund and retention of fees before training begins
16.(1) If a student terminates a student contract before the vocational training begins, the licensee is entitled to retain any registration fee that has been paid, regardless of who paid it.
(2) The licensee shall refund any registration fees that have been paid if (a) a licensee terminates a student contract before the vocational training begins, or (b) subject to subsection (1), the vocational training does not begin on the commencement date set out in the student contract.
(3) The licensee shall refund any tuition fee that it has accepted pursuant to section 14(2.1) if the student contract is terminated before the vocational training begins.
Refund of and retention of tuition - after training begins
17(1) If a student contract is terminated after the vocational training begins, the licensee is entitled to the following amounts of the tuition fees:
(a) when 10% or less of the vocational training has been provided, 25% of the tuition fees; (b) when more than 10% but 50% or less of the vocational training has been provided, 60% of the tuition fees; (c) when more than 50% of the vocational training has been provided, 100% of the tuition fees.
(2) If a licensee has received tuition fees in excess of the amount that the licensee is entitled to under subsection (1), the licensee must refund the excess amount.
