Russia’s long road to nowhere

Russia’s expansionism, imperialism and chauvinism have degraded the country into a pariah state, exposing its deeply rooted inferiority complex.

In 1990, at the end of the Cold War, the Scorpions released a song titled “Wind of Change” foretelling that “distant memories are buried in the past forever“.

A year later, the Soviet Union ceased to exist in 1991 and the “evil empire” became history, for good. President George H. W. Bush said in his Christmas address that the collapse of the Soviet Union meant victory for freedom, democracy and moral values. He welcomed the emergence of a free, independent and democratic Russia, marking the end of confrontation and the receding nuclear threat.
