HOUSE TEN Country Villa Design Using Traditional Material and Construction Individual project, Academic project Site: Traditional village in Pearl River Delta Tutorial: Prof. Xiao Min Time: September-November 2014,Grade Five

Hello!It's HOUSE TEN.

WOW! This side is penetrating.

Look, we can enjoy their garden.

Where am i? The houses look the same.

CONCEPT 2m

WALL DETAIL > 2m

The house sits next to a main street with 4m width on north, the rest of sides face to a narrow alley with 2m. Considering the narrow width of the alley, I try to make the house partly shared by the pedestrian. Make it penetrating exc ept the north side, and remove the traditional brick wall, peripheral house is used as garden. And the charming view of the interior could be shared by the residents as well as the passer-by.

WOOD JOINT

The joint consult to the traditional craftswork in Pearl River Delta. Te n o n a n d m o r t i s e j o i nt a re applied on the joint of beam and pillar. In the joint, I try to use the wood itself, without any help from modern material and technology. Most of the house is made of wood, except brick.

section (theater|whole site)

It's free to rehearse at outside theater.

I heard this tree is much older than the buildings around.

We can watch the show in the afternoon and excercise after that. These collage pictures mainly show the connection between theater and historical buildings around, also the connection betweent the outside theater and concret one. The entrance plaza and outside theater could provide a comfort distance for students and other people to enjoy the view of humanity building and gym. 18

Program analysis

Different sizes of space is designed for different aims for people. Considering the position of this public building, it should also function as a congregation plaza, a cafe house. What's more, since it locals in the university, it should also provide adequate space for students activities. That's why the free outside theater and rehearsal room is in need. Size

WEI ANCESTOR HALL Academic,Team project Project: Ancient Building Survey Time: January-March 2014,Grade Four Site: Lijiao, Guangzhou, P.R.China

I was touched by the sense of the history through the villagers' stories, as well as my hands. Building survey is more than a way to know buildings as we are taking a tour. The true construction leads to my deeper thinking of the amazing craftswork. I could get a true sense of buildings when measure these buildings.
