1952

1948 Nationalization and incorporation of the Company into the Elektro-Praga concern, which change the name of the Company to Elektro-Praga until 1955.

The production of vacuum cleaners was transferred from Rýnovice to Hlinsko where it soon became the main production programme of the Company. It was historically the first production of vacuum cleaners in the Czech Republic.

1950 1943 FO U N DATI O N On 3 rd September 1943, Jan Prošvic, an entrepreneur, founded ESA – an electrical joint-stock company, thus laying the foundation of the production of household electrical appliances in a small town, Hlinsko, Czech Republic, where he started manufacturing electric irons.

From 1950 to 1965, the Company operated as Elektro-Praga Hlinsko, a stateowned enterprise.

Stanislav Lachman, a world-famous designer, became the Company’s designer for ETA household electrical appliances. His most famous designs include a food processor in the shape of a chalice from 1954, a hairdryer in the shape of a laser gun and in 1973, he designed the most controversial iron – ETA 211, with the largest ironing surface in the world at that time.

1993 Privatization of Elektro-Praga Hlinsko, a joint-stock company, via voucher privatization. Privatization funds of large banks were the first owners.

The ETA trademark was registered and it is still the best-known trademark for electrical appliances in the Czech Republic.

The production of the ETA x400 vacuum cleaner was launched and almost 2,500,000 pieces were made in sixteen years.

1997 The production of the ETA 219/220 dry iron ended, with over 11,500,000 pieces manufactured since 1972.

1996 The name of the Company was changed to ETA a. s., in accordance with the trademark.

2012

2002 Launching the production of components for the automotive industry and recruiting a new company’s designer: Zdeněk Veverka.

2001 Plastkov, a company involved in the manufacture of plastic components for Škoda, VW, Audi, BMW, Volvo and other cars, became a strategic partner when the company purchased 100% of ETA shares, thus expanding its activity also into the field of small household appliances.

2009 In 2009, Onyx was the best-selling vacuum cleaner in the Czech Republic.

2008 As of 1st August 2008, the division of the production of plastic parts was detached and a new independent company was founded: Plastkov. ETA started to focus entirely on household appliances. The logo was changed after sixty years.

ETA continues to be a symbol of tradition and history of household appliances of Czech design and Czech quality and remains the best-known brand of household appliances in the Czech Republic. In spring, ETA extended the warranty for its products for Czech and Slovak markets, increasing the awareness of customers of the quality of ETA appliances. The extended warranty for products in ETA portfolio is provided for three, five or ten years.

2011 ETA focuses on expanding its on-line communication with customers and business partners via a new design of its website and a new e-shop. ETA is expanding its marketing communication on the Internet by the campaign “Tested for Czechs and Slovaks”.

2014 Three years in a row, the ETA Gratus food processor became the best-selling food processor in its category on the Czech market. ETA also introduces the first model of a robotic vacuum cleaner. The Company exports its products to more than 12 countries, has its own product and accessories development and uses testing laboratory for its products. The Company offers its products in more than 20 own brand stores all over the Czech Republic.

2013 In 2013, ETA celebrated the 70th anniversary of its foundation. At this occasion, the Company introduced a true treat to the market: the novelty GENEROSO from the category of bag floor vacuum cleaners with an incredible extended warranty for 70 years in the limited edition and with only 1943 pieces available.

2016 In 2016, ETA continues putting emphasis on product quality, modern design, development of accessories, smart solutions, and above all customer satisfaction. ETA offers products in the category of vacuum cleaners, irons, food-processors, hand blenders and mixers, electric kettles, bread machines, hair care products and many more to be able to provide the complete solution for equipping your household with small domestic appliances.
