CAREER READY LOGISTICS ACADEMY

Are you aware of the career opportunities that exist in the logistics industry? At Stockton Riverside College through our Career Ready Logistics Academy we work directly with employers to help raise awareness of this industry that is all around us yet often goes overlooked.

Dealing with the planning, transport and storage of everything you see around you today, logistics is an essential part of all of our everyday lives.

Working with Career Ready and industry leaders, our dedicated programme offers students the chance to learn more about the industry by taking part in master classes and site visits alongside their full-time course.

Those taking part in the programme also get the chance to work with a mentor and carry out a placement or internship.

By raising students’ awareness, the programme aims to encourage students to recognise the industry as a viable career option.

And we are national award winners too! Our Career Ready Logistics Academy Coordinator, Ruth Cabourne, was named the Santander Employability Champion at the Career Ready 2019 Awards.

Emily, Career Ready Graduate now employed at PD Ports

I got to learn about the working environment at PD Ports and how everyone works together in a close knit team in the engineering department. I enjoyed being involved and seeing many of the projects taking place at PD Ports at the time, and engaging with a variety of different people.

Toni, who was a runner up in the Career Ready National Awards, did an internship with PD Ports. She said working with a mentor along with the internship, gave her a real boost. Toni said: “Now I know that I would like to work in the sector. And, having worked with a mentor I would like to be able to do the same for someone else one day.
