DIPLOMA IN CARING FOR CHILDREN

LEVEL 1 - 1 YEAR

WHAT WILL I DO?

Throughout this course you will learn the basics of what it takes to work with babies and children. You will benefit from a combination of theory and practical sessions covering a range of topics including safeguarding, development, health and safety and lots more. You’ll have the chance to put all that you’ve learned into practice on a work placement.

YOU NEED:

A minimum of three GCSEs grade 2/F or above, including English language and maths.

WHAT’S NEXT?

You could progress onto the Diploma for Early Years Practitioner Level 2.

DIPLOMA FOR THE EARLY YEARS PRACTITIONER

LEVEL 2 - 1 YEAR

WHAT WILL I DO?

You will develop the skills needed to work with babies and young children through a combination of theory and practical sessions. Covering subjects including development, safeguarding, health and safety and organising activities, you will learn how children develop effective techniques for interacting with young children. You will also get the chance to apply what you have learnt on a work placement.

YOU NEED:

A relevant level 1 qualification or four GCSEs grade 3/D or above, including English and maths or Level 1 Functional Skills, plus a satisfactory DBS check.

WHAT’S NEXT?

Progress to the Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education.

DIPLOMA IN CHILDCARE & EDUCATION

LEVEL 3 - 2 YEARS

WHAT WILL I DO?

Further develop the skills you have gained on the level 2 qualification and develop techniques for interacting with young children. Learning through a combination of theory and practical sessions and covering topics such as development, safeguarding, health and safety and organising events, you will be required to complete a work placement in both day nurseries and school settings.

YOU NEED:

A relevant level 2 qualification plus four GCSEs grade 4/ D or above, including English and maths or Level 1 Functional Skills, plus a satisfactory DBS check.

WHAT’S NEXT?

Move on to higher education in a relevant subject or start work as an early years educator, teaching assistant or in a nursery.
