Whether you enjoy the heat of the kitchen or the excitement of the restaurant floor, our catering and hospitality courses will give you the skills you need to work in this fast-paced and enjoyable industry. You’ll work in our busy training kitchens and take part in exciting projects like our annual Hell’s Kitchen night, where students cook with chefs from the army!

INTRODUCTION TO THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY

ENTRY LEVEL 3 – 1 YEAR

WHAT WILL I DO?

This course will give you a basic understanding of what it’s like to work in the hospitality industry. You will work in our busy training kitchens learning how to prepare dishes and deliver top quality service. As you will be working in a commercial kitchen you will need a uniform and safety shoes.

YOU NEED:

An interest in the hospitality industry.

You can build on the skills you’ve learnt with our Level 1 Certificate in Investigating the Hospitality Industry.

CERTIFICATE IN INVESTIGATING THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY

LEVEL 1 - 1 YEAR

WHAT WILL I DO?

Under the supervision of our highly-experienced tutors, you will learn basic food preparation, food and drinks service as well as food hygiene, health and safety and lots more.

YOU NEED:

GCSEs grade 2/E or below including English and maths.

WHAT’S NEXT?

You could go on to further study in the food and beverage service or professional cookery at level 2.

PROFESSIONAL COOKERY

DIPLOMA IN PROFESSIONAL COOKERY

LEVEL 2 – 1 YEAR

WHAT WILL I DO?

Training in our kitchens, you’ll be trained to industry standard by our experienced tutors. Developing an understanding of the industry, you’ll gain skills relevant to your course whether learning to prepare and cook dishes, delivering top quality service and/or leadership and supervision skills. Working in a commercial kitchen you’ll need to wear a uniform and safety shoes.

YOU NEED:

GCSEs grade 3/D or above including English and maths or a relevant level 1 qualification.

WHAT’S NEXT?

You could gain employment in a working kitchen.
