DIPLOMA IN INTRODUCTION TO HEALTH, SOCIAL CARE, & CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE’S SETTINGS

LEVEL 1 - 1 YEAR WHAT WILL I DO?

You will start to develop the skills and knowledge needed to start your career pathway into health and social care. Your lessons will include subjects such as Safeguarding, Health and Safety, Healthy Eating, and more. You will also develop yourself through our selfdevelopment and employability subjects.

YOU NEED:

A desire to work within the health and social care sector. If you have not yet achieved your English and maths GCSEs, you will continue to work towards this as part of your main programme of study*.

WHAT’S NEXT?

Following completion of the diploma you may apply to move on to a relevant level 2 course in health and social care, childcare, or any other level 2 course.

CACHE EXTENDED DIPLOMA IN HEALTH & SOCIAL CARE

LEVEL 2 – 1 YEAR WHAT WILL I DO?

Lessons will include activities, research, role play, and discussions. You’ll learn about working in health and social care settings, different methods of communicating effectively, and you will have the opportunity to work with others to produce a portfolio of evidence that you’ll include in your assignments, posters, and research projects. You will take part in subjects that will be focused on preparing you for work, and you will build on your own skills that are relevant to your career choice, such as teamwork, communication, and research skills.

YOU NEED:

Four GCSEs at grade 3 (or equivalent), including English Language. You may also be subject to a DBS check.

WHAT’S NEXT?

Achieve a grade B on this course, (the course is graded A*-D), and a GCSE grade 4 or equivalent in English and/or maths, and you may apply to move on to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care, or you may go on to do an apprenticeship or secure a job.

CACHE CERTIFICATE & EXTENDED DIPLOMA IN HEALTH & SOCIAL CARE

LEVEL 3 - CERTIFICATE - 1 YEAR EXTENDED DIPLOMA – 2 YEARS

WHAT WILL I DO?

Your study sessions with experienced and qualified tutors will include group work activities, research tasks, role play, seminars, lectures and discussions. You will learn about meeting individual care needs, communicating effectively, lifespan development, physiological disorders, and you will engage in work experience.

YOU NEED:

Five GCSEs at grade 9-4 or equivalent, including English Language and maths, at grade 9-3 or equivalent in GCSE science, and a satisfactory DBS check. If you are progressing from the Level 2 Extended Diploma, you need an overall B grade as well as the above. We also require two references. If you do not already have an English and maths GCSE grade 9-4, you will continue to work towards this as part of your main program of study*.

WHAT’S NEXT?

You could broaden your knowledge and understanding of the key subjects within health and social care by going on to study the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care (year 2-essential for entry to HE). Or, you may choose to go on to do an apprenticeship in the health or social care industries, or find work in care related roles.
