We all want to look our best and as a hair stylist you can help people to do just that. Our hairdressing courses will give you the skills you need to get started. Add to that your own passion and ambition and you could go on to work as a mobile hair stylist, run your own business or work in a salon.

INTRODUCTION TO HAIRDRESSING

LEVEL 1 – 1 YEAR WHAT WILL I DO?

You will learn introductory skills including basic styling, plaiting, health & safety, semipermanent colouring and client care.

YOU NEED:

A passion for the hairdressing industry and a positive attitude.

WHAT’S NEXT?

You could move on to our Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing.

DIPLOMA IN HAIRDRESSING

LEVEL 2 – 1 YEAR WHAT WILL I DO?

You will learn skills including styling, blow drying, setting, colouring and cutting hair with techniques becoming more advanced as you progress. You will also learn about health and safety, customer service and reception and we will help you build the confidence to offer client consultations.

YOU NEED:

You will be required to attend classes in full college uniform. You will be required to bring your kit to practical sessions. Functional Skills/GCSE attendance is compulsory unless you have grade 4 in maths and English.

WHAT’S NEXT?

You could move on to our Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing.

DIPLOMA IN HAIRDRESSING

LEVEL 3 – 1 YEAR WHAT WILL I DO?

You will learn how to cut hair using a combination of techniques. Colouring plays a key part in this level 3 course and you will learn how to creatively colour and lighten hair, developing an understanding of colour correction as well as using your creativity to style hair using various pin-up techniques.

YOU NEED:

Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing.

WHAT’S NEXT?

You could go on to find work as a senior stylist, barber, salon manager or assessor.

If you don’t have English and maths at GCSE grade 9-4, you will continue to work towards this as part of your main programme of study.
