If you don’t have English and maths at GCSE grade 9-4, you will continue to work towards this as part of your main programme of study.

If you’re super creative and love video games, one of our creative media courses could be perfect for you. You will learn the technical skills and knowledge to develop your ideas and watch them come alive.

You’ll learn how to use industry-standard kit such as 3DS Max and UnrealEngine 4, and last year 100% of students studying the level 3 course were offered a place at university!

CREATIVE GAMES & MEDIA

LEVEL 2 - 1 YEAR WHAT WILL I DO?

With a focus on practical work, you will be creating your own projects and assignments in our design studios. Working to briefs based on the real world you’ll get to see what life’s really like in this vibrant industry.

YOU NEED:

A relevant level 1 qualification or four GCSEs at grade 3 or above.

WHAT’S NEXT?

Progress to the level 3 course in Games Design or a Level 3 Extended Diploma in a creative subject (such as Film & TV Production or Art & Design).

GAMES & ANIMATION

LEVEL 3 - 2 YEARS

WHAT WILL I DO?

This practical course covers a range of exciting units. We carry out all of the preproduction, production and post-production elements of the games and animation industry. Our projects focus on a variety of disciplines including games design, character animations, games engines, 3D modelling, 3D environments and much more. The course offers great opportunities to be a part of live and industry standard briefs. Past examples include the Virtual Reality game created as an educational tool for the English department. games and animations. This course can be worth the equivalent of three A levels at grade 9.

YOU NEED:

A passion for creativity with a minimum of five GCSEs grade 4–9, preferably including English and maths. At least one of which should be in a creative subject. Alternatively, an equivalent level 2 qualification in a relevant creative subject.

Applicants should have a keen interest in drawing (by hand or digitally). You will be creating your own art work for animation and games design.

WHAT’S NEXT?

You can apply to progress onto a university degree that allows you to focus on your specialism.
