Starting September 2022, Stockton Riverside College is pleased to be working with Career Colleges and The North East School of Shipping to offer our brand new Shipping and Logistics courses.

There has never been a better time to join the industry, it has shown great resilience and flexibility during the pandemic. Logistics and shipping underpins the UK economy and plays a significant part in everyday life, ensuring the supply chain for all goods, products and services reaches us. This includes food, clothes, medicine and just about everything else you can think of. With the dramatic increase in online business and e-commerce, there is high demand for skilled talent in the industry which means there are many great career opportunities on offer.

This is a rapidly growing industry offering a wealth of amazing job opportunities in many different areas. From transport planners to supply chain managers and marketing managers to data analytic experts, there is a lot more to logistics than most people imagine. Technological advancements such as artificial intelligence and robotics are at the forefront of the expanding sector, making it a great opportunity that can lead to many careers.

MARITIME CAREERS ASHORE*

LEVEL 3

WHAT WILL I DO?

This course is aimed at providing an understanding of the maritime sector and will prepare you for further study, apprenticeships, or a job in the industry.

YOU NEED:

Five GCSEs grade 4-9 including English or maths, alternatively Level 2 Functional Skills in English or maths.

COURSE INCLUDES:

An introduction to the maritime industry, vessel types, stability and practical boat handling, regulations in the industry, port services and operations, commercial shipping operations and maritime geography and trade.

DIPLOMA IN LOGISTICS*

LEVEL 3

WHAT WILL I DO?

This course is aimed at providing learners with the knowledge, skills and understanding of the logistics sector to support progression into higher level qualifications, apprenticeships or employment.

YOU NEED:

Five GCSEs grade 4-9 including English or maths, alternatively Level 2 Functional Skills in English or maths.

COURSE INCLUDES:

An introduction to the logistics industry, warehouse operations, technology and automation in logistics as well as supply chain management and business and marketing. This is to ensure learners develop transferable skills within the industry and can apply themselves to many employment opportunities.
