Course Type: Level 1, Full-Time

Length: One year

Entry Requirements: An interest in construction or the trade industries.

This qualification provides the ideal introduction to the construction industry and covers essential practical hand tool skills and industry knowledge on legislation and health and safety. This course gives students the chance to explore the opportunities within the construction trades.

This is a predominately practical based course with an essential element of theory-based sessions.

Level 1 Introductory Diploma in Construction (Joinery and Carpentry)

What will I do?

The course will cover mandatory units on health and safety and the Introduction to the construction industry. It will then focus on joinery/ carpentry skills and techniques with opportunities throughout the year to visit other college sites for taster sessions in other construction trades. Students will also take part in construction projects and enrichment activities.

How am I assessed?

Students are assessed on both practical activities and theory, through module based assignments.

What’s next?

Progression onto a specific Construction trade or apprenticeship.
