POSITIVE PATHWAYS

Positive Pathways is a flexible, individualised programme for post 16 learners who are not yet ready for a full-time college programme and need to focus on developing wider key skills along with support for social, emotional and mental health needs.

Primarily based at The Skills Academy but will include visits to other Etc. campuses where appropriate.

What will I do?

This programme provides core lessons in:

• Maths • English

As well as other weekly sessions including:

• Cookery • Design Technology • Arts & Crafts • Horticulture

There will be a focus on personal development, citizenship, money management, independent living, budgeting and employability. Enterprise, enrichment and tutorial sessions will provide learners with knowledge and skills invaluable to prepare them for their next steps. Learners will also have the opportunity to try a range of vocational programmes including:

• Hair & Beauty • Construction Multi-Skills • Art & Design • Digital Media • Health Social & Childcare

How am I assessed?

Not all learners will complete a formal qualification but assessment could include: exam assessment (maths and English), practical activities and portfolio building.

What’s next?

After the initial application learners will be invited into College for a visit and interview followed by transitional days. All enrolments will be agreed with the Alternative Provision Manager at The Skills Academy and the Group High Needs Manager.
