HOW TO GUIDE: DON’T BE CONSUMED BY THE TROUBLES OF THE DAY Ever find yourself head down and discouraged? It’s easy to get focused on the circumstances of the day and before you know it, you find yourself and your thought life consumed by the unknowns, uncertainties and troubles of this world. A simple perspective and posture shift can change everything about how we live, the quality of our life, and our effectiveness toward glorifying the Lord. God calls us to take two simple actions towards making this shift. Here are two ways to not be consumed by the troubles of the day…
Rise, and recognize where your help comes from. Focusing your mind and thoughts on the truth of the beginning of Psalm 121 will change your perspective as you recognize you are never helpless. I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved… Psalm 121:1-8 God even says he will be the lifter of our heads perhaps when we don’t have the strength. (Psalm 3.3)
Pray continually and confidently. (1 Thessalonians 5.17) Each day, all day, put on the posture of prayer and you’ll not only experience a life-giving perspective shift, you’ll receive a peace that passes understanding that comes from giving your requests to God. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4.6–7 Rise + Pray and give the day to the Lord. Lay all of your cares + praises at His feet. He is right there with you every step of the way, every day.
