5 Things You Must Know About Cost Structure of Product Photography Website product photography is all the rage in these times of Instagram and Pinterest. Every small and big company is getting a product portfolio done by a good product photographer Atlanta and using those photographs in their website as well as for their social media marketing initiatives. Those companies which have been doing it for some time are now aware of all aspects. For a company that is thinking of using professional product photography services, though, there are many things that are not so clear. One of those is product photography pricing. On one hand, they are usually working on limited budgets, and the prices charged sometimes seem astronomical. Even before coming to the price charged, they are not even clear as to what are the components of the cost structure. If you are also thinking of hiring professional product photography services, then there are five basics you need to understand about the pricing. 1. The first thing to note is that different product photographers work on different scales. What works for a mid-sized company that has been around for a few years might not work for you if you are only starting off. At a broad level, there are the independent studios you find locally, and then there are full service photography studios. Avoid the full service ones if you are a small company just starting off, with a miniscule marketing budget. 2. There are different ways in which product photographers charge, and you must choose the one that allows you to get by with minimal expense. Some photographers would charge you for every hour (or day) they work with you or for your products. Some others charge you on a per product rate, if you have multiple products to be clicked. The one you should go for is the third type, which charges you a rate for every image that you are finally given. 3. One very important area where small/new clients get hit later are the additional charges. So you must ask and keep on asking about any additional charges that would be tagged on to your final bill. It could be as simple as conveyance of the team to your site, or it could be the need to buy specific props for your products.

4. The dimensions and weight of your product might impact your costs as well. If you are making and selling soft toys, for example, then there is no extra effort required from the photographer. But if you sell heavy and bulky machine tools, for example, there might be a carriage charge for lugging your products around. 5. Another aspect of your product that can impact your overall cost is how photography-ready it is. Some products can be simply taken out of their packaging and placed on the table, after which the photographer can begin shooting. There are other products, though, which need to be cleaned, or assembled, or taken apart, before photography can comment. Some or all of these activities might be chargeable, so it’s better to ask beforehand.
