OTHERVIEW After the integration of information technology systems, the banks have entered a new era. In the modern internationalized economic environment, businesses and consumers seek electronic banking services. Technology offers the infrastructure and tools that enable banks to respond to the current demands of the economy. In Greece so far there are few but avid subscribers/ users of digital banking. Experience shows that as soon as someone gets access to digital banking and overcomes the fear of technology, of the Internet and of novelty in general, electronic banking fast becomes an attractive process of banking services, which means that this particular channel of economic transactions and communication has the potential to evolve and offers great growth opportunities to all interested parties. Top executives of the banking sector and from major information technology companies with business activities in Greece as well as government officials, academics, consultants and experts will explain how digital technologies lead banks to the future. SESSION 1: Technological challenges and the Greek digital banking on the international financial map: from physical to electronic service channels. In this panel, bank executives and representatives of major information technology and telecommunications companies will discuss the developments after the integration of the banks' information technology systems. The electronic transactions sector is undergoing radical changes and the international financial map is being reshaped, thus creating new circumstances, new needs and opportunities. SESSION 2: The advantages of electronic banking: helping consumers to digitally manage their money The number of electronic banking users is rapidly increasing, as the advantages that digital banking services offer to the consumers are many. Among these advantages are services access 24x7, personalized services that are tailored to the consumers'/ users' individual needs, less time and minimal transport cost, no waiting in queues, decrease in the consumption of natural resources and in environmental burden and the elimination of geographical restrictions. The participants in this session will present their products and available solutions, by giving examples of the consumers' experience, from ATMs, AEMs (Automatic Exchange Machines), Electronic Funds Transfer Point of Sales (EFTPs/POS) and phone banking to web and mobile banking. Given the rapid development of smart electronic devices, the networks speed, the consumers mobility and the globalization of business activities, the financial organizations are elaborating new product series and banking solutions that will attract more and more users to digital banking channels. SESSION 3: Safety in the world of digital banking The level of safety of the transactions environment plays a key role in digital banking. The constantly increasing Internet and mobile telephony penetration as well as the development of information technology systems to ensure transactions safety, make it possible to conclude even those transactions that are perceived as highly risky by the consumers, such as digital banking payments. The technologically advanced methods applied to verify the identity of the bank and the user, the identification of possible threats and also some cases of electronic attacks, are among the topics that will be discussed in this session. The institutional framework and the role of the state affect the development of fast and safe digital banking services.

SESSION 4: Digital banking trends: creating the electronic bank of the future The bank of the future will not lose its material substance, as the perceived value of the “brick and mortar� bank remains important. The human factor is essential and prevailing, however, it is now integrated in a new structure, in which it is not physically present but still exists. Within this framework, innovations and best practices combined with investment on electronic systems safety and quality on line customer service are tools that offer competitive advantages to the banks that use them. This session aims to show how the constantly changing needs of the clients but also the research and development of technological companies define the strategy of the banks in the digital era.
