OVERVIEW The insurance market is undergoing radical changes which are noted by all insurance professionals (companies, brokers). There is no doubt whatsoever that all aspects of the insurance sector have been altered and are now categorized under different practices. Brokers, market professionals and their activities have been transported to a new working environment, where work conditions are different and so are remunerations, insurance needs or working methods. The insurance products will also be radically different. No one is able to accurately describe the next day. The only thing an insurance professional can do is get thoroughly prepared so as to secure a leading role in his/ her professional arena. Within this transitional time and procedure, the brokers are pioneers; they are the professionals who promote insurance products, inform, mediate, support the companies and help them evolve their services. But first and foremost, they familiarize the public with insurance plans. The thousands of brokers, companies and freelancers, should hurry up. The transitional period is coming to its end and the steps that need to be taken are numerous, as are the questions: which option is the most viable, small partnerships, corporate groups or freelance services? Today, a step towards success for every mediator is: to study, work, think and act timely, so as to seamlessly make the transition to this new insurance era. Are there relevant techniques? Yes. Are there solutions? Yes. Is there relevant educational material? The answer is again: Yes.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE AGENDA DISCUSSION PANEL I COOPERATION BETWEEN STATE AND INSURANCE MARKET GUARANTEES SMOOTH TRANSITION OF THE SECTOR TO THE NEW OPERATION LEGAL FRAMEWORK: # To which direction and in what way will the state and the private insurance sector cooperate to the benefit of society, companies and national economy? # What do the state's regulatory interventions consist of and how can they be implemented in order to enable private insurance? # In what way will the institutional organizations of the insurance sector and the state contribute to the smooth market function? # The “keys” to the application of the new legal provisions. # How does the Solvency Directive internationalize and standardize the procedures related to work growth, supervision and market operation? Today more than ever, the cooperation between the professionals of the insurance sector and the state authorities plays a key role in the continuity of its services. Brokers and Insurance Companies are seeking to establish the new working balance. The Supervising Authority, the competent Ministries, the Greek General Secretariat for Consumer Affairs, the Hellenic Consumers Ombudsman, the Hellenic Association of Insurance Companies and all the institutional organizations involved in the brokerage procedure are invited to lay the foundation for the survival of the insurance sector. The new national and European legal and regulatory environment dictates the necessary modifications, the realization of which requires the collaboration of all the relevant market factors. At the same time, the application of the Solvency Directive signals a new era for the activities, growth and overall operation of the insurance market, as it will help contain the losses. As a result, compliance with the various rules and regulations will be faster and more efficient, attributing to the private insurance products the necessary reliability. The cooperation between state and insurance companies is also of high importance when it comes to the involvement of private insurance in the public pension scheme and health insurance. The role of the companies as well as the degree and manner of their involvement depends directly on today's cooperation. Establishing an efficient and stable framework is a very important issue which needs to be addressed the soonest possible. DISCUSSION PANEL II THE NEW BROKERAGE ERA: Redefining work relationships and redesigning the professional orientation of the mediators: # How will the new relationship between insurance companies and brokerage be established? # What is the role of synergies in brokerage and how can different brokerage procedures follow a joint course of action? # Brokerage Cooperation Methods. # How can the broker reduce operational costs and expand his/ her range of activities? # Innovations that can be applied to the promotion of insurance products. # Which insurance products constitute the basis for the development of brokerage and how important is specialization? There are new terms that govern the relations and transactions between insurance and brokerage companies. The legal provisions and regulations that are being applied have brought significant changes. Professional relationships are now founded on new standards. To achieve growth it is necessary to redefine the up-to-now targeting of the works. It is indispensable for the viability of all professionals involved in various market areas to find techniques that will make their jobs easier and enable them to work faster and reduce their operational costs. This can be achieved through crossbusiness synergies, out-of-the box ideas and solutions and joint actions of insurance and brokerage services companies. Consulting companies also have a part in this, as they can offer helpful assistance and alternatives in technical, legal and operational matters. This new era dictates the need for brokers and brokerage companies to join forces and share office infrastructure, to acquire equipment which can be used by many professionals and which will optimize the quality of their work, such as electronic systems, accounting departments, telephone centers and customer service departments. DISCUSSION PANEL III ADAPTATION, SURVIVAL AND DEVELOPMENT OF MEDIATION WITHIN THE NEW ECONOMIC ENVIRONMENT: OPERATION – ORGANIZATION – INSURANCE DIGITIZATION – NEW TECHNOLOGIES: # The “keys” for the transition of brokerage to the new insurance era. Procedures related to organization, work specialization, operational method and adaptation to new technologies. # Electronic interconnection of insurance professionals to their offices and collaborating businesses. # Insurance IT: what does it show and how has it evolved so far? Which are the tried and tested technological systems? # How can working time and operational costs related to brokerage procedures be reduced? # How can we achieve the adaptation of executives and companies to the new procedures of modernization/ digitization of mediation insurance works? Brokers and brokerage companies have moved from invoice management to a new era of services development as well as organization of procedures and production for companies and professionals. Brokerage networks are being created to give a boost to insurance services. New operative methods are being elaborated within the mediation sector. Specialization and know-how play a key role in insurance production. New technologies are the basis for the development of the new works. The electronization/ digitization of the insurance procedures is the only option. Back office, CMR (Customer Relationship Management), Analytics & Business Intelligence Web, cloud and mobile, Social Media are just a few instances of technology's penetration to the sector of insurance. No one can ignore this fact and everyone has the possibility to specialize in those technological tools that will make his/ her work easier. Companies and Brokers have adopted the new technologies and rely widely on them. What are the new electronic applications and which systems do they assist, what are the new insurance services promotional techniques, how much do they cost, what do they have to offer? Which are the special applications and high technology systems that have been elaborated to support insurance works?

DISCUSSION PANEL IV INSURANCE PRODUCTS SIMPLIFICATION AND SALES: # Insurance sales support and the necessary procedures of adaptation to current demands. # New insurance products promotional methods that will enable sales. # What is the importance of vocational education and how can it be utilized for work development? # How will insurance products sales methods be “grouped” to create Tailor Made products and which tools can be used to achieve that? # The basis for sales enforcement on institutional level. # Which is the proper preparation for a broker that will enable his/ her business to grow even within an adverse economic environment? Insurance Brokerage is seeking a new role and needs to focus on what it can offer to the market, which market areas it should specialize in or further explore. The answer to the question “what does the broker or the brokerage company sell and how” is key in order for the insurance production to evolve in a dynamic way. How is the presence of mediation in the market justified? In what way will the mediator be useful to individuals and companies? Which products should be prioritized? How will the insurance agent of today be able to learn everything there is to know on all the new insurance products and organize his/ her work so as to save time? The brokerage procedure includes comprehension and management of hundreds of different products, such as new Health, Pension, Liability and Property insurance plans. The amount of time required to keep up with all this information is indeterminate and it is undoubtedly a time-consuming task. Thus, the brokers need to develop methods of product simplification and fast-learning as well as other supportive procedures, that will help them promote the various insurance plans. Vocational education can significantly contribute to this goal also, while institutional mobilization of the insurance market can help create the proper framework for insurance sales procedures. NOTE: All modules will include examples from relevant practices in other countries and provide information on current developments in the brokerage and insurance sectors. For example: what exactly does the mediation procedure consist of, what is the production bulk, the size of the companies, the work method employed by the freelancers?
