very project begins with a need, in this case, giving a formal space of study and work for the ITESM architecture and design students, also to expand the campus to its surroundings avoiding the centralization of activities and the agglomeration of students by creating bigger working areas in available properties near the ITESM. The Architecture and Design School by being intentionally a box of ideas by itself, tries to stimulate the users creativity, at the same time, the open spaces, terraces and openings, look for provide different and necessary scenarios for students.

The Chihuahua Museum of Modern Art project is located in the political and historical center of the city, an area with a huge value, traveled by citizens who require some legal proceedings and government employees between the first hours of day till 6 pm.

The project site is surrounded by historical buildings and the main square, providing exquisite views for the visitor and working at the same time as a “permanent exposition” in the area by being a architectural element out of the ordinary. Given the volume of a building like this and the surrounding views, the building looks to develop underground, so it can maintain the same views and give new ones, to and from the site; with this, the building gives a look of the concept of what is inside, inviting the pedestrians to discover a bit of the content and the objective of the museum by locating openings to the main exhibition area at street level.

1

The outstanding volume houses the restaurant, the administrative offices for the museum, the art discharge areas and the foyer. The volume decomposes its façade creating an opening to the main views of downtown with glass, solid and green modules. n In collaboration with Arch. Liliana Parra Garcia.

project is part of the development of this commercial and residence zone. This commercial park conceptually derived by the most important element in this kind of projects, the showcase, being this, one of the main points for the business well performance. Also, the showcase takes the main role in the concept, looking by its view angle to catch the customers attention. It its true that malls of park centers are considered “stop-by” places where the users look, obtain and go away, so its proposed a welcoming area so a group of restaurants can gather around it and use it like a dining area, promoting the mixing of business in the commercial premises. The facades and its orientation projects a wide reciprocal view to the centers entrance and the boulevard, generating a visual and spatial equity between premises. The project result is 12 spaces with same area, 4 different in space but also in proposed usage and one with big dimensions for an anchor store. n

The Private Residential Club “El Rejón” , begins with an investigation

for possible and suitable properties for a project like this, the research includes the natural qualities in and out of the polygon, near services in the area like drainage system, electricity, existing routes and different services like supermarkets, schools, gas stations, etc. The proximity to the Metropolitan Park and the different communication roads, made the property suitable for the development of a project like this. The project locates between future important avenues in the city, (The extension for Av. I. Politécnico Nacional, Vistas del Sol, Street and the future Eje Poniente freeway) and near streets to the Metropolitan Park Presa El Rejón. The proposal involves from the subsequent studies of its urban context, infrastructure, future avenues and streets projected in the zone and city urban regulations through the inner distribution and the design of an exhibit house as an example for residential guidelines. n

South views Model. Localization plan. Main level plan. 2nd level plan.

The development of this office building in the old neighborhood of San Felipe begins with the idea of revitalizing this emblematic residential area that in recent times has been progressively uninhabited and occupied by small business, small offices or restaurants by giving the right space for this demand.

Conceptually this project takes the idea of a photographer and the model, the conjunct tries to serve as the photographer, by looking to its excellent views to city downtown, but also as the model by displaying itself to one of the main avenues in the neighborhood. The building its formed by 3 volumes, the one who houses the offices in 5 levels, the highest volume in the center for services and circulations, and the 3rd volume in the front for the reception, an extra office and a restaurant above. This project its completed once the user discovers the interiors and the views the building offers to downtown and live the conceptual experiences planned by the design. n In collaboration with Arq. Located in the heart of the city of Guadalajara, Jal. the building of

the Chapultepec Cultural Center is reinforced by the elements in its context that make the site an exceptional place for a project of its kind. The CCCH can not left the idea of the context at the site, the Chapultepec area, an old french colony housed by foreigners and later deprived of its name “Lafayette” and changed to Chapultepec in part of the mexican revolution changes. This gave us the principal motive for the projectual concept, defined as “The ruptures in human history”

The project volume begins with a box, the one its intercepted and warped by different situations that collides with its shape and changes its form by objects in its context like the traffic and pedestrian flow, nearby vegetation and buildings, and views. At the same time the volume tries to make a “funnel” effect attracting the visitor with its materials and the strategic plaza in the main entrance so the people can access to the volume unconsciously.

CHAPULTEPEC CULTURAL CENTER Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mx.

A cultural center means to be used by everybody, people for high and low economic status, students, families, young and old people; so is a goal to the designer to design the necessarily elements for the building to its well function and surely usage. n

his project, located outside the city of Cartagena de Indias in Colombia, has the objective not only to attract the tourism to this zone but to implement basic services to a pair of marginalized communities, Punta Canoas and Manzanillo del Mar, and giving them the tools for its self development, avoiding urban growth to displaced them by the construction and uncontrolled growth.

In Cartagena, whatever the location, the local stays static in front of the itinerant character, the tourist, with no effect to them or, harm or benefit. The local, the permanent character, stays in place vanishing in grades into the surroundings and turns into one more urban element, static, immovable. This project has its main goal into the fight against poverty of this two communities, trying with the urban plan to prevent displacements by making changes with respect, balance with the environment, avoiding uncontrolled growth like in Cartagena. n
