MISSION
MESSAGE FROM OUR OWNER
‘Tradition. Honor. Passion.’ These values guide the Chicago Fire Soccer Club. We take great pride in representing Chicago on the pitch and providing avenues to build a better city through the Chicago Fire Foundation. In 2015 the Foundation was honored to receive the 2015 Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Sport Team of the Year Award and the Chicago Charity Challenge Helping Hand Award, as well as being named a finalist for Sport Team of the Year by Beyond Sport. This recognition is a testament to the hard work of our staff, the support of our donors and the tremendous commitment of our volunteers and program participants. The Chicago Fire Foundation’s cornerstone program, P.L.A.Y.S. (Participate, Learn, Achieve, Youth, Soccer) continues to enhance the academic performance and development of social and emotional skills in elementary school students through a soccer-based curriculum. The Foundation finances and manages all elements of the initiative, which provided almost 70,000 hours of soccer in spring and fall programs at 12 Chicago Public Schools since the 2013 pilot year. Students participating in P.L.A.Y.S. programming consistently demonstrate an improvement in adaptability, optimism, self-regulation and trust of others. P.L.A.Y.S. also led to an increase in attendance at school - one of the early indicators of whether or not a student will graduate from high school. I am proud to be a part of the Chicago Fire community which includes our caring and generous donors, our incredibly dedicated players, coaches and staff, engaged fans and, most importantly, the grantees that make a positive difference in the lives of the youth in Chicago. I also want to thank all of our wonderful community partners, specifically, City Year Chicago, Special Olympics Illinois, World Sport Chicago, Chicago Public Schools and the Academy for Urban School Leadership for their continued expertise and support. Thank you all for your commitment to the Chicago Fire Soccer Club and the Chicago Fire Foundation. As you review our 2015 Chicago Foundation Community Report, I hope that you too take pride in what you helped accomplish.

The P.L.A.Y.S. It helped me understand that working as a team can sometimes be better than working by your self.
