Utopian
The Eden was designed with a futuristic impression of Singapore to be a ‘Garden in the City’. The end outcome features utopian architectural elements and construction details that are rather unconventional, far from the familiar architectural designs of the local industry.
02 | Motive
With such an unconventional design, the Eden is set to transform or provide a vantage point for the local architectural scene as well as the residential typology that is rather square-ish or constrained in the box.

Design to Transform
Apart from the chandelier-like planter balconies which shapes change organically throughout the building, the perimeter of each stacked ‘level’ of the Eden is surrounded by slim, narrow windows without any shading features or adaptations of the kind, hence narrowing the possibilities of controlling the amount of light that enters the interior

A careful study was made on which color was best used, trying various shades of red, purple and brick, and it was decided to create a wavy surface reminiscent of the typical soil of the Singapore region.

Swire Properties of Hong Kong is selling all 20 units at its completed freehold luxury condominium Eden, at 2 Drayco Park, in a deal amounting to about $300 million. It is not clear how the deal is being structured but the buyer (or buyers) are said to hail from North Asia.

With only one unit per floor, The Eden consists of 20 residential units that are considered as limited edition in the context of its location and hence unable to simultaneously provide for large number of residents.

Green strategy
The focus on creating a garden for each apartment is a response to the disconnection between high rise apartments and the lush greenery at street level in Singapore. The design extends the landscape of Singapore upwards through the building with a series of hanging gardens, connecting the interior living space with the outdoors, providing views of Singapore’s green landscape.

The greenery from the garden is threaded upwards and around the building through a series of planted chandeliers which grow as they rise up the building’s dramatic 18 meters high lobby, to become generous private planted outdoor spaces.
