텔레프레전스 존재가 다른 사람들에게 어떻게 보이며 어떤 감정을 불러일으킬 까? 처음엔 완전한 사람으로 받아들여지지 않을 것 같다. 이질적인 존재에 대한 막연한 공포심이 들 것 같다. How will a telepresent entity be seen by others, and what emotions will it elicit? It will not be considered as a whole person at first. It would elicit fear towards an eerie and different being.
학기 초의 텔레프레전스에 대한 아이디 어는 흐려지는 국경이었다. 국가라는 개념이 흐려지고 개인의 삶은 여러개로 파편화 될 것이다. 더이상 주거지와 직장 사이 거리에 제약 이 없으므로 도시 계획이 크게 바뀔 것 이다. 대부분의 인구가 특정 지역에 몰려 살 것이며 나머지 지역은 경제 및 산업 단 지가 될 것이다. Earlier idea I had about telepresence was about blurred borders of nations. The idea of traditional nations will fade, and individuals’ life will be fragmented. The city planning will change drastically since there will no longer be the limit caused by transportations. Most of human population will live in the single residential area, and other regions will be business and industrial district.
해당 주제로 영화 작업을 하면 좋겠다 는 피드백을 바탕으로 그동안 발상을 했다. Bliss, Fantastic Planet, THX1138, They Live 등의 영화를 보며 텔레프레 전스와 미래에 대해 생각했다. Following the advice that it would be nice to make a movie about my thoughts on telepresence, I came up with more ideas. I watched Bliss, Fantastic Planet, THX1138, They Live, thinking about telepresence and the future.
Bliss에서 인상깊었던 장면은 두 가지가 있다. 1. 홀로그램 형태의 텔레프레전스 존재가 도시를 걸어다니는 모습. 2. 주인공이 두 세계에 살며 삶이 파편화되어 혼란을 겪고 결국 하나의 삶을 선택해야 했던 점. 영화에서는 텔레프레전스 존재가 아무렇지 않은 듯 주변 사람들이 자연스럽게 행동했지만, 영화를 보는 나는 해당 텔레프레전스 존재에만 눈길이 갔다. I got interested in following two parts on the movie Bliss. 1. The telepresent beings walking down the road with hologram-like looks. 2. How the main character lived in two different worlds and got his life fragmented, then ending up having to choose between two different version of lives. In the fictional society of the movie, people did not seem to care much about the presence of telepresent entity. But as a spectator, I kept looking at the telepresent being than any
others.
<프로젝트 접근 방식> 이를 바탕으로 프로젝트 접근 방식에 대해 새롭게 생각해 보았다. 1. 텔레프레전트가 되는 건 어떤 경험일까? 2. 텔레프레전트 존재 근처에 있는 건 어떤 경험일까? <Approach of the project> Based on the thoughts I had watching Bliss, I came up with different ways of approaching the project. 1. What would it be like to be telepresent? 2. What would it be like to be around the telepresent beings? 텔레프레전트한 존재는 육신을 가진 존재가 가진 한계를 뛰어넘는 힘을 가진다. 이에 대한 일종 의 경외와 이질감을 표현하고 싶다. A telepresent entity has the power that an entity with biological flesh lacks. I want to implement emotions elicited by this. Awe-like fear and eerie feeling implemented to an interactive installation.
