Tips to Spot Problems with the Alignment of Your Car

Generally, car alignment is always neglected and not considered to be a vital maintenance work.

But when you drive your car on rough roads and potholes, then the suspension components get worn out which results in the misalignment of your car.

So, if you find a problem related to alignment, then get it fixed at your service center before the car incurs serious damage.

Here are some useful tips to spot problems with the alignment of your car.

Spot uneven tire wear

Having uneven tire wear is one of the most common clues that your car alignment is out of the required specifications.

When the tires on one side of the car are showing additional wear that simply isn’t visible on the other side, then there’s a problem in the alignment

Not all types of uneven wear represent an alignment problem as it might be due to suspension issues or uneven pressure between the tires.

Start experiencing pulls and tugs

If you have to regularly correct the steering on your car while on the road or there is a constant pull to one side, then your car alignment needs to be corrected.

These types of tugs and pulls are mainly caused by out of place suspension components due to impacts with potholes, curbs or other obstacles.

Before you make the appointment for an alignment, however, make sure to check your tire inflation on each side to confirm it’s the same.

Feel vibrations while driving

When your car is not properly aligned, you might notice that your car doesn’t drive quite as smoothly as it usually did.

And at higher speeds, an alignment issue can reveal itself through vibrations in the steering wheel and the front of the car due to bad sync between the tires.

Also, it is important to make sure that the vibration isn’t being caused by a tire problem or a loose component of the suspension system.

So, what's next?

It is not worth to wait until poor alignment has done significant damage to your car’s suspension and tires before addressing the issue.

When you start experiencing any of the above symptoms while out for a drive, then it’s probably time to queue your car for an alignment.
