In 2016, European Film Promotion (EFP) runs for the 18th time the European Umbrella at the American Film Market (AFM). Acknowledged as an important meeting point for film professionals, EFP’s umbrella presence has made it possible for more than 180 small and medium-sized European companies to attend this prestigious event since 1998. Brief profiles of the companies participating under the EFP Umbrella will introduce you to Europe’s diversity and to the choice of their titles, for which additional information is available at EFP‘s suite. This year, 23 companies from 13 different European countries take advantage of this operating base to do their daily business. Our sincere thanks go to the AFM, in particular, to Jonathan Wolf, Brian Roddy and Holly Sortomme for their ongoing assistance and co-operation in organising this highly successful annual initiative. We are looking forward to welcome you to our suite 817/819 at this year’s American Film Market. Contact at the AFM November 2-9, 2016

In addition to its catalogue, Eurociné offers To See The Sea, a wonderful journey of self-discover and truth through a child’s lense: when Tomas receives a camera for his birthday with the help of his friend they decide to make a movie and go undercover to find out what their parents have been hiring and pursue their dream to see the sea (already selected and awarded in various festivals). Eurociné produced for Canal+ a film tribute to one of its favorite directors JESS FRANCO sought by numerous festivals. Also, Eurociné is the subject of a documentary for Canal+, recounting its origins and Eurocine’s production period of the 70’. EUROPEAN FILM PROMOTION 37 countries - 1 network

European Film Promotion ( EFP ) is the only existing international network of organisations promoting and marketing European cinema worldwide. F ounded in 1997, the EFP network now comprises professional organisations from 37 European countries, who are experts in promoting and marketing their own national cinema. Under the EFP umbrella, all of these organisations work together on the promotion of European films and talent around the world. EFP devises, organises and carries out promotional activities and events on behalf of films, directors, producers, actors and sales agents. EFP ’s activities are financially supported by the Creative Europe –  MEDIA Programme of the European Union and the EFP member organisations. EFP ’s promotion and PR activities are backed by private and public sponsors. The Hamburg-based office is supported by the German State Minister for Culture and the Media (BKM ), the Film Fund Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein and the Ministry of Culture of the City of Hamburg.

WESTWIND European Film Showcase

in St. Petersburg (October)

EFP organises a European Showcase with five to six films in St. Petersburg and arranges afterwards an attractive European online film festival on a leading Russian VoD platform. This new two-track approach of both an online European film week and the theatrical presentation of European films to the audience in St. Petersburg makes WestWind into a special endeavour.

OPENING DOORS at the Busan IFF, South Korea (October) The aim of this initiative is to highlight the European films screening at this important cultural and business event in Asia, raise their visibility to the press, public and industry and support the sales of these films with a strong presence at the Asian Film Market. EFP activities are aimed at increasing the profile of the European films at the festival, assisting the European industry, particularly sales agents by running an umbrella booth at the Asian Film Market, and, in general, supporting the artistic delegation of directors in attendance at the event.

nET WORKING PRODUCERS on the move at the Cannes IFF (may) EFP offers support and guidance to upand-coming European producers during the Cannes Film Festival.
