ALWAYS ON THE MOVE E

FP’s PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE is celebrating its 18th edition in Cannes this year. As in previous years, it is still very exciting to present a group of 20 dynamic, ambitious, up-and-coming European producers. Many of them already have quite a notable track record of films – and are now ready to meet their peers and industry experts to team up for exciting new films. The impressive number of 381 producers from 36 different European countries have participated in this unique networking event since 2000. Year after year, we see more co-productions coming out of PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE. Many of the former participants are returning to the festival with a film in the official selection of 2017. And we are convinced that this year’s participants will soon be back with co-productions. European Film Promotion invites the producers to take part in project pitching, one-to-one meetings, case studies and several social events as part of the initiative. In addition, the producers benefit from extensive promotion in several of the major international trade papers. All of this will help them as they gear up to becoming global players in the future. We would like to acknowledge the contribution and ongoing support from the Creative Europe – MEDIA Programme of the European Union as well as from Eurimages, which allows us to bring this initiative to Cannes each year. We are thrilled to be able to present such a talented group of European producers to the international industry, and we wish them all the best on this exciting leg of their creative journey. Martin Schweighofer EFP President, May 2017

SUCCESS STORY

LOVE & FRIENDSHIP PRODUCTION BY KATIE HOLLY

AND LAURANNE BOURRACHOT

The film had its World Premiere at Sundance 2016, was screened at 26 festivals world wide and released in more than 25 countries. In 2010, Katie Holly and Lauranne Bourrachot took part in EFP’s PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE.

07

“Producer On The Move is how I met `Lady Katie´. I couldn’t believe my luck when she approached me with the project of a Jane Austen adaptation by Whit Stillman! The title Love & Friendship says all about how the copro went. We are now financing another film to be directed by Kieron J. Walsh and I hope there are more to come. Working with Katie and shooting in Ireland convinced me of the emergency of a bilateral treaty to be signed between France and Ireland. Vive les coproductions européennes.“

Lauranne Bourrachot Chic Films, France

“Producers On The Move was my first introduction to Lauranne, I approached her with Whit Stillman’s Love & Friendship and we had a terrific collaboration, her financing was instrumental in getting the film made and it was a true partnership – we’re now embarked on our second feature together, The Domestique, which we plan to shoot in Spring 2018.“
