Imaging Competition Winners
Haag-Streit has announced the winners of the 2020 Slit Lamp Imaging Competition. The judges selected 12 finalists from 300 entries, who delivered outstanding images.
Following a great deal of deliberation, the judges announced that the winner was Mel Yeneralski, Ophthalmic Photographer, Cambridge University Hospitals, UK, for her image of silicone oil bubbles.
John McCormick, Medical Photographer at the Tennent Institute of Ophthalmology, Gartnavel General Hospital, UK, received the prize for second place for his image of image of corneal endothelial pigment downgrowth.
Eva Steffan, University Clinic for Ophthalmology, Inselspital, University of Bern, Switzerland, received third prize for an image of a vitreous prolapse.
Haag-Streit Diagnostics also announced the nine runners up: Carmen Rodrigues, Katie Lachut, Kim Baxter, Nicole Mantel-Baerlocher, Dr Pablo Gili, Pia Lohri, Utpal Sarkar, Yajie Zheng and Zhang Yang.

PREMIUM IOL CALCULATOR
Rayner have announced the launch of their updated web-based Premium IOL Calculator, Raytrace.
A company spokesperson said the new Raytrace version 3.5 was developed in line with surgeon feedback, includes the following improvements: Inclusion of Posterior Corneal Astigmatism (PCA) for more accurate toric IOL calculations; all biometric and IOL options now viewable on a single webpage for greater convenience; and addition of nominal values to compare with Raytrace results for verification; www.Raytrace.rayner.com
CHIEF DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
Oculis has appointed David Jacobs MD as Chief Development Officer. A company spokesperson said Dr Jacobs will be based in Oculis’ newly-established US office. In his new role, he will be responsible for leading all development plans and achieving market authorisations by coordinating all regulatory activities required for future New Drug Application submissions to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the equivalent for regulators in other territories. www.oculis.com
