Coche Coche, located at Paseo Andrés Segovia 58, is the brainchild of three passionate cyclists ‐ David Barbero from La Herradu ra, Dutchman Vic de Wee and Dane Jesper Koefoed. All of them have creat ed the first ‘cycling café’ where, as well as having a good coffee, you can have an emergency tech nical repair or buy some cycling clothing or appar el.The establishment has a terrace, a small bar and coffee machine and a workshop area with tools and everything necessary to solve a technical breakdown that may arise at any time. In addi tion to this, there is a dis play of specialised or high‐end clothing from a prominent Danish firm. The Coche Coche bike café is set to become a reference point for cy cling on the Costa Tropi cal, although for now it is still warming up for the start of the race.

THE Rincon de la Victoria Town Hall has organised a series of commemorative events in celebration of the 187th anniversary of the constitution of the first town council of the municipality, which was based in Benagalbon.Themayor, Francisco Salado, said: “On August 28 of 1835, the first town council was established, a milestone given the circumstances of the time. After years of being located in various different places, it was permanently moved to Rincon de la Victoria in 1950.”Theprogramme of events will begin on Saturday, August 27, with the unveiling of a commemorative mosaic near the church square. On August 28, the patio of the town hall will host an institutional act in which the mayor will give a speech in memory of the moment when Benagalbon was separated from Mo clinejo and the town council was formed. The courtyard of the town hall will also host an ex hibition of old images of the municipality until Mon day September 5.

The event, which has not taken place for two years due to the pan demic, will take place on Sunday, August 28, and will feature the fa mous singer Omar Montes as the main act. At the press conference given on August 18, Perez Atencia respond ed to recent criticism from the Par tido Popular, saying: “It is not true that Omar Montes’ fee is €80,000. They would only need to ask the representation agencies to give them the details to see that.” He added: “Since 2015, we have been working on quality events with the sole purpose of boosting the local economy. The business fabric of our town and the liveli hoods of local families and workers have been subject to different eco nomic crises, as well as the pan demic and various other situations, in the past few years. However, our work has always focused on pro moting and improving our tourism, and it has paid off.”

THE La Galería exhibition hall in Almuñecar (Calle Vélez, 2) is hosting a group exhibition of paintings organised by the collective ARTESUR until Wednesday August 31. ARTESUR is a non-profit association formed by a group of professionals interested in cultural exchange between the artistic communities of Europe and Latin America. So far, more than 800 artists, 150 curators and art critics, 150 galleries and 160 museums, as well as around 20 coun tries, have worked with ARTESUR, and the network is growing every day.

THE mayor of Almuñecar, Juan José Ruiz Joya, has declared that the munici pality’s patron saint festivi ties, held from August 9 to 15, were “probably the best we’ve ever had. Every thing went smoothly and every effort was made to ensure the best possible re sults in terms of security, cleaning, maintenance and so on,” he said. The councillor for Festivi ties and Culture, Alberto García Gilabert, added: “Thank you for a festival full of gatherings, coming together, enjoyment, laughter, surprises and ac tivities for all tastes. LA HERRADURA’S festival ‘Nights at the Castle’ (Noches en el Castillo) is an artistic project that started in 2018 and takes place in the surroundings of the La Herradura Castle, a well‐preserved 18th‐century fortress by the sea. The event offers pop, classical and blues concerts, as well as family‐orientated shows, and it took place from August 16 to 21 this year.

The German guitarist Leonard Becker opened the fifth edi tion of the festival on August 16. Becker was so well‐received by the audience that he gave two encores. Over the next few days, the audience was treated to a tribute to the Span ish singer‐songwriter Joaquín Sabina; a performance by the all‐female quartet Las Migas, formed of a vocalist, two guitar players and a violinist; a concert from the Sevillian group Siempre Así, who were on their 30th‐anniversary tour; a trib ute to the popular singer Manolo García and a night of boleros from the group Charanda.

ON Sunday August 21, the group from Jaen ‘Charanda’ filled the gardens of La Her radura Castle with a beautiful concert that closed the fifth edition of the Night Festival, which had been taking place since Tuesday, August 16. One of the most outstanding, not only in this edition but al so in the history of the Her radureño festival, was the one offered by the Sevillian group ‘Siempre Asi’, within their 30th anniversary tour.

THE Department of the Environment of the Al muñecar Town Hall launched a new campaign on Friday August 19 to raise awareness about the importance of protecting chameleons, or ‘Andalucian dragons’. The initiative offers resi dents and visitors the chance to show solidarity with the chameleon by getting one of four dif ferent ‘chameleon tattoos’ at the environmen tal information point that will travel around beaches, squares and schools.

Chameleons can be found in different areas of Almuñecar and La Herradura, mainly around Taramay and Cerro Gordo. They tend to occu py custard apple, avocado, carob, olive, pomegranate and almond trees, and their main threats are the destruction of their natu ral habitat, being run over, pesticides and peo ple who interact with them harmfully. For years, the Almuñecar Department of the Environment has been working to monitor and protect the local chameleon population. One initiative included placing informative signposts in their habitats, and there is now a contact telephone number for geolocation (686 270 438).

Car thief vehicle stuck on stairs

A CAR thief who was fleeing police in Madrid entered a shopping centre only for the vehicle to get stuck trying to go up the stairs. In a classic case of having seen too many movies, the 36year­old drove through the glass doors of the Plaza Eliptica shopping centre in the early hours of Tuesday, August 23. The thief is said to have used the bus lane of the A42 be fore crashing through the doors and trying to drive up the stairs.According to the emergency services, no one was hurt, but it took a herculean effort to remove the vehicle from the stairs and the shopping centre. The driver was transferred by the SAMUR­Civil Protection to the October 12 Hospital according to a local news site. What the car thief was thinking when he tried to flee through the centre is anyone’s guess, but no doubt it will become clearer as the investigation gets underway.

Well, you are allThroughright. art I find and lose myself at the same time. I enjoy every second when I am creating. When did you start cre ating comics? My father works with a famous artist, drawing for some of the greatest brands in the games and comics industry. I tried to contribute on some occasions, but it is difficult to start as a top professional. Later, I got an iPad, and I asked my father to send samples of my work to some newspa pers ‘just to try’. The rest is history, as they say. Is this something you hope to have a career in? I believe that one day I will be a good architect and artist. Already, some of my works are on the walls of classrooms, of fices and homes. What sort of subjects do you most love to concen trate on? I am experimenting with different media, styles and materials. Your readers will probably get a better understanding if they visit my Instagram account @Isabella_ micheva. Any thoughts on the fu ture? I feel that in the future I will gravitate more and more towards digital art. A 45-YEAR-OLD female driver at the wheel of a high­powered Porsche somehow managed to smash into another Porsche parked outside a home in Madrid on, Sat urday, August 20. The im pact of the collision left the parked vehicle lodged on top of the woman’s car.According to a spokesman for Emergen cies 112 Community of Madrid, the driver hit the parked car with such force that both vehicles went through the garden wall of a house on Calle Henares de Caceres de Al cala in the capital. After receiving the alert, the 112 emergency operators immediately deployed three fire appli ances from the Communi ty of Madrid to the loca tion. They oversaw the removal of the two vehi cles from the wall, with a tow truck subsequently pulling them free.

Ray started playing guitar at the age of 13 and as he grew up in Essex played in a selection of blues and rock bands in the 80s and 90s, but worked as a builder rather than a professional musician. In 2002 he moved to Spain where he played guitar in local bars as well as teach ing both guitar and ukulele whilst supple menting his income by continuing to work as a Asbuilder.Rayexplained “I wanted to spend more time with my music, but it was my girlfriend who encouraged me to have confidence in my ability to perform, so thanks in part to her that’s what I did.” Whilst remaining on the Costa del Sol, Ray joined a number of high­profile British revival bands, starting with the Ru bettes with whom he toured in 2013 and 2014.Following on from them, was a fouryear slot with Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich travelling the world as they performed all of the original band’s greatest hits and as a footnote many will remember the club Beaky’s Gig which was situated between Estepona and San Pedro Alcantara. Next up was a deputising role with Her man’s Hermits (who continue to gig with out Peter Noone who now lives in the USA) which turned into an ongoing ar rangement, but then came the pandemic. Ray explained “I had already decided that it was time to explore my own music and released my first album Coming Home in 2019, but with the lockdown I had plenty of time to write and record, re leasing In my Life with a number of guest musicians including Savage Garden’s Daniel Jones from Australia.”

IT was reported on Tuesday, August 16, in a statement to the National Commission of the Market of Securities (CNMV), International Airlines Group (IAG) has acquired a 20 per cent equity stake in Spanish airline, Air Europa. On March 17, 2022, IAG announced that a €100 mil lion unsecured loan had been made to the airline’s par ent company, Globalia. It was believed at the time that this loan was IAG’s way of stopping a third­party airline from purchasing Air Europa. The group’s holding company has now exercised its right to convert that loan into a stake in the airline. This deal was subsequently affected by the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, and because of the serious effect it had on aviation companies.

I REALLY do appreciate some of the mail sent by readers of my weekly waffle. Mind you sometimes they re ally contain more flimflam than the ol’ boy’s column itself. One I received this week consid ered me a ‘total Pratt’ for supporting a Conservative government. Even this assumption was not specifically true, I don’t blindly support a party who of ten find it difficult to face up to obvi ous problems, including the forgoing of realistic efforts to prevent the dis integration of British culture; the fact is, whatever my choices, I would just never sanction the woke induced left ies, simple as that. This reader also insinuated that the UK had condoned the last 12 years of liars; he appeared to forget that the ‘New’ Labour government who pre ceded the Conservatives, was used as a gravy train by a young, utterly right wing schemer and his conspiratorial wife, who even insisted on changing the name of the utterly demolished opposing party to further his own ends. An extremely ambitious opera tor, Mr Blair then proceeded to run the country into the ground, (not him self or the wife of course!) In close league with another American crook, he also sent the UK into a disastrous war for a recompense of cheap oil. Finally realising he had screwed the UK all he could and his game was up, with perfect timing he ran out, leav ing the last two years of leadership to his power hungry partner Gordon Brown; a self­indulgent idiot who, dripping with self­gratification, then dispelled his own ridiculous party of losers into total oblivion, basically by finally even selling off most of the country’s gold for a pittance, which actually resulted in his chancellor un believably leaving a note in the office of his successor, stating that there was in fact ‘no money left.’

IT seems that whilst the rising cost of living is affecting coun tries around the world that Britain is in a worse position than many. No matter what your politics may be or your stance in Brexit, the situation in Spain whilst bad, is nowhere near as dire as it is in the UK. Whilst the politicians who encouraged a Brexit vote and those who followed that advice were not able to forecast the future, it seems that the European Union has been the finan cial saviour of both Italy and Spain with the billions pumped into the economy from the recovery fund.

The popular Nevada LPC Cup, in total 40 drivers participated in 2021 ­ 2022 season, returns for the 2022/23 winter season with events at Circuito do Sol ­ Alentejo Portugal, Circuito Mike G Guadix ­ Granada and Circuito de Andalucia­Almeria circuits, Andalucia Spain. The Nevada LPC Cup follows the same format as the LPC Championship but focuses on club and entry­level racing.

In total, from December to April, nine tracks will be used, and there will be 11 test days, 22 Endurance races of 40 min utes with a mandatory pit stop and the possibility of driver change.Thefirst race of the Nevada LPC Cup season, December 1718, will also be the inaugural race on the Circuito do Sol track.
