Taught us decency, strength, honour and a work ethic second to none. Truly a momentous loss to not just the UK and the Commonwealth, but the world as a whole and I think that in the decades to come that this day will be regarded as the day the world became a darker and more insular world. The Queen united large parts of the world and defied all her critics and without that ‘glue’ holding and uniting us, I fear for the future . RIP Queen Elizabeth the Sec ond and Long Live the King!”

King Charles’ busy schedule

FOLLOWING his recent accession to the throne, King Charles certainly has a lot of events in his calendar and re sponsibilities to carry out as England’s new monarch.

KING CHARLES is the late Queen Elizabeth II’s eldest son of four chil dren, and father to William, Prince of Wales, and Harry, Duke of Sus sex.He was born at Buckingham Palace, London on November 14, 1948, making him 73 years old now. He attended schools in London, Hamp shire and Scotland before carrying out a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Cambridge.

As King, already Charles and the Queen Consort have travelled to the Houses of Parliament to receive their condolences for the passing of his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II. This was the first visit on their national tour of mourning for Queen Elizabeth II.

On Friday September 16, Charles and Camilla will visit Wales to receive another motion of con dolence at the Welsh parliament and at tend a service at Llandaff Cathedral, Cardiff.

Queen Consort

Camilla reportedly has “a wicked sense of humour,” and is “great” to work for, so no doubt she’ll make an excellent Queen Consort alongside King Charles.

AS Charles becomes king following the death of his beloved mother, his faithful wife of 17 years Camilla, will stand by his side as Queen Consort.

As an observant critic of modernist architecture, Charles worked on the construction of Poundbury in Dorset, a town of low‐rise streetscapes built to hu man scale, which is home to some 4,200 people.

Next, Charles led a procession of his mother’s coffin at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, where he also attended a prayer service at St Giles Cathedral, before re turning to the place for an audience with SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon.

Following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, on Thursday, September 8, 73‐year‐old Charles became the UK’s new monarch, heralding a new Carolean era. The new King had been heir apparent since the age of three, when his mother took to the throne in 1952. An ardent advocate for environmental protection during his time as the Prince of Wales, Charles III is now expected to take a more neutral stance in his new role as monarch.

the death of Queen Elizabeth II, her eldest son has become King Charles III, beginning his reign with a pre‐record ed national speech at Buckingham Palace on Friday,

Much like Queen Elizabeth reigned alongside her loving hus band Philip, Charles’ intention to work with his wife in order to serve the country was obvious in his first address, in which he declared that he will “count on the loving help of my darling wife Camilla.”

After completing his studies, Charles served his country in the Royal Air Force and the Royal Navy between the years 1971‐1976.

As an environmentalist, Charles has also supported organic farming and other ac tion to reduce the impact of climate change, delivering his first official speech on the issue 52 years ago in 1970.

Many EWN readers have expressed how Camilla’s subse quent accession is what the queen would have wanted. One commenter is Helen Winslade, who writes that “It was actu ally Her Majesty the Queen herself who stated it was her wish that Camilla become Queen Consort when Charles be comes King to thank Camilla for all her hard work and loyalty.”

As Prince of Wales, a role he took on in 1969, Charles founded the Prince’s Trust Charity in 1976, an organisation that helps young people be tween the ages of 11 and 30 get into jobs, education and training.

One thing that will hopefully pre vail with the country’s growing immi grant population, is for them to final ly witness what sort of a country they have been lucky enough to find themselves in.

The British people will put up with many confrontations, but if you go too far and violence prevails, even heaven won’t help you. God save King Charles III may he and his faith ful Consort reign in peace and rela tive tranquility for many years to come.

Personally, my age means that I re call her Coronation fairly well. Of course, we had very few televisions and at 13 years of age, school books were rather more prevalent than newspapers.Asapupil however, I do recollect being taught a song entitled ‘Let’s all be good Elizabethans’, a refrain which I do still remember, and also receiving a book on the Coronation (which I even now have in my posses sion). This of course means that I have witnessed her complete reign of 70 years, and although some of my early days were lived through a World War and saw the resignation of one monarch and the crowning of her father King George VI, it is she who has been the most prevalent in my lifetime, and I will miss her.

HELLO, I have to give my opin ion re ‘rear view fines’ as sug gested by the DGT.

AS a former resident of Rhode sia (I left when it became Zim babwe!) I am mortified that Spain will even offer €1 of help to the government there!

So are the DGT saying all these vehicles are a danger as they do not have an internal rear view mirror thus obstruct ed rear views??

THE fight for leadership of the Conservative Party and there fore Prime Minister is over and Liz Truss emerged as the winner. She has immediately taken steps to distance herself from supporters of Rishi Sunak and now has a senior cabi net made up of her followers who previously held at best, ju niorPromisingposts. to return Britain to its position as a world leader despite the fact that she has held important ministerial posts since the May government, she sees the way forward as one of lower taxes which she believes will create more en trepreneurs and attract foreign investment.

SHAME ON YOU

We fought to prevent those people taking over a beautiful and successful country, but the Russians’ influence over Harold Wilson etc, ruined that.

The country is not worth helping until these criminals are removed from office and a proper government installed with an opposition that can oppose rather than hide under the desks in fear of terrible reprisals! Shame on you Spain for supporting a terrorist or ganisation in their total de struction of the country!

This means borrowing and spending more but for pen sioners, especially those in Spain who haven’t benefited from the energy support, the matter of the triple lock promise is looming in many minds.

YOUR PAPER - YOUR VOICE - YOUR OPINION

The percentage increase that pensioners can expect to re ceive in April of next year will, in theory, be based on UK in flation and should reflect the standing of this September’s Consumer Price Index which is expected to be in excess of 10 per Problemcent.is of course that it was exceptionally suspended last year in order to help Britain recover some of its pandem ic spend and it is suggested that Liz Truss’s economic advi sors are convinced that she simply can’t afford to allow it to be reinstated now to benefit pensioners in 2023/24.

So, with the WASPI women still receiving no compensa tion from the lack of advance notice of the increase in pen sion age from the Department and Works and Pensions as confirmed by the Ombudsman and now the threat of no triple lock safety, it rather looks as if the so-called levellingup policy is going to miss a significant percentage of the population.

We have been proven right by the way the two successive Zimbabwean governments since 1981 have destroyed practically everything by milking the system financially, putting unqualified relatives and friends in places of high office and ‘switching off’ the infrastructure that maintained hospitals, schools, transport, power, wa ter etc. The current president, the ‘Crocodile’ Manangagwa, like Mugabe, goes nowhere without armed guards and takes expensive flights.

WELL done Leapy!! Totally agree with all you say about the media and its bias.

It’s about time motorists now stood firm and made firm objections to some of the idi otic money making rules that are spoiling the joys of motor ing.

SAD LEGACY FOR THE UK

EWN 15 - 21 September 2022 euroweeklynews.com FEATURE22

The UK is cut off from the rest of Europe by Brexit. There is no properly functioning na tional health system. The cost of living is out of control. There is a crisis in the availability, supply and delivery of goods. Travel and transport by land, railway, air and sea are in chaos. There are strikes in dozens of sectors ranging from the judiciary to the main con tainer port at Felixstowe, postal workers and waste management to railway workers and airline staff, nurses and teachers. So, in theory, we are faced with a battle between ideologies. Despite the collapse of the NHS, with so much chaos in the private sector, especially energy and water suppliers, nationalisation needs to be seriously consid ered in some areas. This is no longer a battle between classes or between capitalism and socialism. It’s a battle for survival.

murder statistics have risen again. Waiting lists for ambulances, hospital beds, dental treatment, passport applications, driving tests and mortgage requests have reached unimaginable levels.
