Betty Henderson CARTAGENA has welcomed a fascinating art exhibition ‘Exaltation of Natural Beauty’ which has brought a unique blend between Japanese and Andalucian culture to the city’s Palacio Consistorial. Artist, Gema Climent’s exhibition arrived in the city on Friday, January 20, where it was opened by local councillor for Culture, David Martínez Noguera.

Climent wanted to fuse her experiences of living in Kyoto with the Andalucian city of Cordoba which has also been an important influence for her. Climent specialises in engraving an incredibly funny Polly Parrot.

Two special Oscars were awarded, first, the Director’s Award which went to Roger Scott who did an excellent job providing all the music, lighting and technical knowhow. The second Oscar together with the President’s Award went to Joyce Maher who played Pirate Blood Boiler.

Members enjoyed performing the pantomime so much that they are going to do it all over again later this year.
