Torrevieja adorns

IN a bid to draw tourism from the city of Madrid, images of Torrevieja are adorning one of the busiest metro stations in the Spanish capital. The new tourist promotion will last for a month until February 18.

Under the slogan CLOSE to what you image, the campaign will fill the interior corridors of the lobby of the Gran Vía Metro line which are decorated with vinyl prints of idyllic images of Torrevieja, among which the pink lagoon of the Natural Park stands out, as well as prints of the environmental wealth of the city.

The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolon, and the councillor for Tourism, Rosario Martinez, visited this metro station to witness in situ the spectacular photographs of Torrevieja that decorate one of the busiest stations in the entire capital of Spain. A station where thousands of people travel every day, both for leisure and work reasons, accounting for more than one and a half million people per month.

CONNECTIONS to San Pedro del Pinatar are continuing to improve thanks to a budget boost of €1 million from the regional government to resurface the RMF25 which connects the town with Lo Romero. Some 4,000 vehicles travel on the RMF25 each day, with a large proportion of haulage vehicles, so the repair work is crucial to guarantee drivers’ safety in the rural area.

The regional government also wants to improve comfort for drivers and increase the environmental sustainability of the road with the resurfacing project. A total of 236 road signs will also be installed on the road to improve visibility for drivers.

Local authorities announced the investment on Friday, January 20, saying that a six kilometre stretch of road will be resurfaced over a three month period.

San Pedro Council thanked the regional government for the investment saying it will provide valuable employment opportunities for locals. The council will now select a company to complete the work after 14 businesses submitted applications when the contract was put out to tender.
