TORREVIEJA’S delectable local cuisine was the highlight of the city’s display at the FITUR tourism fair which was held in Madrid until Sunday, January 22.
Among the culinary delights on show at the national fair were rice with ‘boqueron’ anchovies, local gazpacho and popular seafood dishes. Local chef, Mónica Andreu offered a live cooking display, showcasing traditional cooking techniques alongside delicious produce from Torrevieja and the nearby coast.
Torrevieja’s packed cooking calendar was also the subject of lots of interest at the fair with events taking place in every single month, from February when a dessert week is set to launch on Monday, February 13. Other events in the spring include a rice week in March where worldrenowned paella dishes will take centre stage and a tapas trail event in April.
Other local businesses present at the fair included groups from Las Salinas who are also nominated for an award from the Valencian Community for their creative gourmet opportunities for tourists to try fish from the region’s iconic salt flats.
ELCHE’S La Calahorra is hosting an exhibition of photography and children’s drawings relating to the Moors and Christians festivities.
The councillor for Festivities, Mariola Galiana, confirmed the exhibition will be on display until February 5, and she has invited everyone in the city to take part in the event by voting for their favourite image.
The winning image will be used in posters and advertising for the Moors and Christians 2023 fiestas.
The exhibition includes a children’s drawing exhibition made up of 270 illustrations divided into three age categories, reflecting some of the most important moments of this Festival of Regional Tourist Interest from the point of view of the children of Elche.
