Children’s works Passion for percussion

ELCHE’S streets are set to come to life with incredible drum performances by local percussion band, ‘Kilombo Kilombé’. The group’s live performances are unmissable shows of energy, vi ­ brance and passion.

The group began their live street rehearsals back on Saturday, January 14 and they are set to continue until Saturday, February 4, bringing some weekend cheer to

Elche residents and visitors. Percussionists start their performances at 11am each Saturday and are each held in different neighbourhoods to share their rhythm with all in the city.

The performance on Saturday, January 28 will fill Plaza del Raval with incredible beats while the last performance will be held at the Hort de La Cuerna in the Altabix area.

The drum group are well ­ known in the local community thanks to their energetic performances at events throughout the year, including recently at the Three King’s Day parades.

Local councillor for Business, Felip Sánchez thanked the group for getting people out on the streets and the necessary boost that their work has given to local businesses and shoppers.

PINOSO has started the new year with almost 30 gratefully received blood donations.

The Pinoso Town Council Health Department has thanked the public for their response to the last call for solidarity to donate blood at the Health Centre in Pinoso on Monday, January 16.

A total of 29 people came forward and one person donated blood for the first time.

The town council has requested that anyone who is eligible to give blood attend the next collection at the Health Centre on February 13.

Blood or the components of blood are used to treat patients with medical conditions such as anaemia, cancer blood disorders, and those having surgery.

IN Torrevieja, urban colonies of ownerless cats have been registered, with a total of 2,552 cats counted of which 1,117 remain uncastrated (43.77 per cent).
